Watson, Wayne M., 75, of St. Louis, Mo., died on Thursday July 14, 2022. He was born in northeast Philadelphia on June 21, 1947, to the late Martha and Martin Watson. His brother, Dennis, and sister, Wanda, preceded Wayne in death. He is survived by his wife, Linda M. (Riordan) Watson of St. Louis, Mo., and his stepson, Kyle Chandler of St. Louis, Mo., His sons, Christopher Watson and Martin Watson, his nieces, Jennifer Forwood and Michelle King, both of Schwenksville, Pa., and his beloved great nephews, Jake and Conner Forwood, and his great nieces, Brianna and Olivia King.
Wayne was a Vietnam helicopter pilot and instructor. He was an active member of the St. Louis Woodworker’s Guild serving as president, vice-president, and instructor. He also advised and assisted St. Louis area Boy Scouts in Eagle projects which involved woodworking. After retiring from rehabbing historic homes in the Soulard area, Wayne led a team of fellow woodworkers in rebuilding a wooden vinegar rail car at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis County.
Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Tuesday July 26 at 10:00 am. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4-8 pm. I’m truly saddened to hear about Wayne. It was an honor to call him my friend. He was one of my oldest machine shop students. Probably 100 when he took my class. It was a joy having him as a student and mentor to the youngsters.
I’ll miss our trips to King Edward’s. I believe it’s your time to buy.

Wayne was a good sailor and a fun person to be with! He influenced me to buy my first boat, a Lightning. Our club lost a spark when he dropped out!

Wayne and I were helicopter instrument instructor pilots at Ft Rucker Al during 1968 to 1970. Also Vietnam helicopter pilots previously. Years later Wayne flew for Carson Helicopters and invited me to fly with him at Marble Mount in Washington State. We kept in touch ever since and we were planning a trip next year to visit. RIP my friend
