Beloved husband of the late Patricia Tigges (nee Matejka); loving father of Greg (Lisa), Pam and Steve Tigges; dear grandfather of Sarah, Drew, Diana and Alexandria; “super grandpa” of Catherine, Miles, Claire, Kennedy and Hannah; dear brother-in-law of Dorothy (Warren) Hinderer.
Special thanks to the staff of Turners Rock Retirement Community, where Charles resided after moving to Springfield, Missouri in 2021.
Mr. Tigges was a US Navy veteran and a retired St. Louis City Firefighter.
Services; Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois, Tuesday November 22, 9:00 AM to St Catherine Laboure Catholic Church for 9:30 AM mass. Interment JB National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made American Red Cross and/or Siteman Cancer Center. Visitation Monday 4:00-7:00 PM.

Sad to hear the news of Charlie passing. I met Charlie in Dec 1988, I was a new Firefighter on the St. Louis fire dept, and Charlie was my first senior man, and I couldn’t have ask a better mentor. Such a kind soul, that taught me a lot about the job. My wife and I used to take Charlie and his wife Pat to the baseball game, then we would usually go to dinner afterwards. Just a fun couple to spend time with. I think about him often, and he will truly be missed. RIP Charlie.

Charlie was a great Lincord Dr neighbor, always had a friendly wave on his way down the street. Have missed seeing him heading out for his morning coffee at White Castle.

I worked with Charlie on the Fire Department at the 7’s . He had such a dry sense of humor and made me laugh all the time. Rest In Peace
It was a privilege to care for you, Charlie. You were one of a kind and always knew how to make people laugh. I’ll never forget all those times I brought you ice cream late a night and we’d talk about medicine, your time in the fire department, and how you were “class treasurer” in high school. Rest in peace, man.
