William Otto Steinbrueck died peacefully on May 27, 2021 after a long and wonderful life.
Beloved husband of Rosemary L. Steinbrueck (nee Zimmermann); loving father of Kent Steinbrueck and Keri Sarandos; adoring grandfather of Shaina Steinbrueck, Christopher and Mitchell Sarandos; dear brother of Donald (Thelma) Steinbrueck. Our dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Bill Steinbrueck was born in St. Louis on July 27, 1930 and lived at the family grocer with his brother Don and parents Otto and Ida. He was baptized at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church on Ivanhoe and remained a member of the Catholic Church his entire life. He graduated from Southwest High School and soon after went into the military. He enlisted into the US Army and served proudly and honorably in the Korean War. Immediately after his service he began work at a finance company and enrolled at Washington University where he attended classes at night. Bill was avid bowler often carrying 190+ average. Even though he never played a game of soccer in his life he began watching amateur soccer round town, coached youth teams and was a fan of the game thereon. Although not a good golfer he played often and always encouraged his family to play and the enjoy the game. A PROUD member of the Rotary Club of St. Louis he joined in 1974 and was in the club for over 40 years. Many good friendships and great times were experienced through his involvement in Rotary. Bill had a distinguished banking career working as a Commercial Lender before being a pioneer in developing a loan review process still used today in many local banks.
Bill loved every single member of his family especially his wife, Rosemary who he married over 68 years ago. He would brag about his children, grandchildren to many because he loved them such. He was always Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Bill or just Bill to many. Always a proud man who believed in his principles even though some might not agree with him. May God Be With Him
Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL 10151 Gravois, Wednesday June 2 4-8 PM. Service and interment at JB National Cemetery will be held in private.

Although I did not know your dad, I see you in his smiling face and know he was a kind man and proud of his family. I can’t remove your heartache but I can surround you with love and support during this difficult time.

I grew up living on Marmaduke, down the street was the little grocery store, Mom would send me there to get free soup bones. Nowadays, you have to buy them!
His dad Otto was missing some fingers I remember both of his parents.

I am so sorry to read your dad’s obituary. I learned a great deal from him when I was in audit in the late 70’s. He would take me along to assist him with loan reviews . I will add him and your family to my prayer list
