Edward Charles Schwenk
December 7, 1956-August 19, 2020
Edward C. Schwenk, age 63, of St. Louis, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in his home in Washington, Mo. He is survived by his hopelessly devoted wife of 25 years, Karen Schwenk (DeSchepper). He also leaves behind his children Angela Pryibil (Jeff) and Nicholas Schwenk (Elizabeth). His memory will live on forever through everyone he knew but especially through his grandchildren & great grandchildren Daniel Soto (Jackie), Dallas Acab (Meeya), Matthew Torres, Nicholas Schwenk Jr., Magnolia Pryibil, Rowan Pryibil, Esaias Acab, Kylia Acab & Adelynn Soto who adored him tremendously.
Eddie was born in north St. Louis to Helen & Russell Schwenk . He was the youngest of 4 and made it his mission to make people laugh. He was the class clown in school but was charming enough to get away with most shenanigans. His 3 siblings, Barbara Galczynski (Dennis), Gary Schwenk (Lisa) & Shirley Clausen (Roger) will miss his antics & his ability to bring levity & mischief to most situations. He loved baseball, hunting & fishing with his family & friends. Despite their parents’ disapproval, Eddie had been known to take his nephews fishing, where he taught them the art of smoking cigars. While attending high school, Eddie got a job at Marvin’s Garage on 13th St. where he learned auto mechanics and during the summer he worked on the tow boats along the Mississippi. Once he had Angie & Nick, he made a living as a fireman for the city of St. Louis and as a begrudging carpenter. His beautiful carpentry efforts can be found all over St. Louis City & County. It seems everyone got to revel in the fruits of his labor except for his loving bride.
Ed was a gracious host, the life of every party & always knew how to make a person feel welcome. If you attended one of his BBQs (hopefully he was grilling his amazing ribs) you knew the night couldn’t end without fireworks, dancing or someone getting thrown in the pool. Ed spent the last 16 years of his life retired on Bull Shoals Lake where he got to garden, tend to his horses & dogs, fish, hunt & watch endless hours of The First 48 or Forensic Files. Ed’s love for animals, especially his dogs, was something to behold. He made an excellent grandpa. He doted on and spoiled his grandkids every chance he could. Ed taught them to love animals, appreciate nature & listen to their moms and dads. He was a fierce protector of those he loved & wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in their time of need. He was exactly the person you’d want in your corner as he had a friend everywhere he went that always seemed to owe him a favor……
Services: Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Saturday, August 29, 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Missouri.

Our prayers and condolences to all the Schwenk family. Eddie and I were and still are the best of friends. I have missed him through his long illness, but will always have memories of our good times fishing, working, and just goofing off. Thanks for being with me during my sad time .

We have known Ed since he married Karen, Ed had a giving heart he would do anything for you. He was especially caring for our mother and father in law.
Ed had a personality out of this world. As a brother in law to me and Debby I considered Ed more a Brother!

Ed was a great brother-in-law. i was able to revel in his remodeling skills when he redid my kitchen. He is going to be dearly missed. I remember all of his help caring for our parents at the end of their lives.

We are going to miss my brother. Ed absolutely loved life, people, and his pets. Life is too short, especially for people like Ed.
I benefited from his begrudging carpentry and from the memories that we shared throughout our lives as siblings. Ed was a giver. He had a lighthearted way of living life and I really liked that about him. He brought the gift of laughter to many lives.
Rest in peace brother, you are loved and will not be forgotten.
