Robert Mark Reed, 66, of Webster Groves, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2020. Robert was born on February 19, 1954, to Karl and Anne Reed (Cohen) in St. Louis on Cabanne Avenue. After attending University City High School and graduating from Ladue HS in 1972, he went on to study accounting at University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Louis University.
He worked as a financial analyst, most notably during a 24-year tenure at Anheuser-Busch. During his career, he also ventured into various entrepreneurial side projects such as buying, fixing up, and selling or renting out houses in St. Louis and Sanibel Island, FL.
On Valentine’s Day in 1981, he met Carlyn (Heider), and they wed in 1984, going on to have three children, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Jessica.
After retiring, Robert spent his time rehabbing houses, walking on nearby trails, cheering for St. Louis sports teams, searching for the best barbeque in town, meeting his brother Chuck (Charles) every week for lunch, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Anne Reed. He is survived by wife Carlyn, children Nicholas (Gina), Rebecca, and Jessica, grandson Wilder, and brother Charles.
Services: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel at 10151 Gravois on Wednesday, June 10, from 11 a.m. until family-only service at 1 p.m. Due to current circumstances, please contact Gina at (314) 956-7127 to set up a time to attend the visitation and how many people will be coming as the number of visitors at one time is limited. Interment at St. Paul Churchyard, 7600 Rock Hill Rd, following the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Jewish Family & Children’s Services of St. Louis.
We are so very sorry for your loss. We feel lucky to have met him several times and see the great bond he and Nick had. I know he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with the whole family during this very difficult time.
I was saddened by the news of Bob’s passing. I remember him as a kind neighbor while growing up on Rock Hill. He always wore a smile when I saw him around the neighborhood. Sending my heartfelt condolences.

We are so sorry because of the sudden passing of your beloved husband and father, Robert. We are also sad that we didn’t have a closer relationship. It seems that after college and marriage our lives each went into different directions. Nonetheless there was a renewed effort to bring the Cohen surviving family members together. Dearest Carlyn, Nicholas,(Gina), Rebecca, Jessica, and Chuck…..
I am so saddened by the loss of your wonderful Robert (Bob). He is my first cousin, born later than the other ten of us. However, I was blessed to get to know him recently as adults. I have some beautiful memories of our “email exchanges and talks” which I shall treasure the rest of my life. I am so glad we got a chance to “connect” since he is one of those beautiful angels God put on this Earth. Robert loved hearing family stories and facts about his Grandparents Cohen, the siblings and especially his Mother Anne. She loved to bake, always sharing things with everyone……and everything was DELICIOUS. So Dear Robert, if there is “an oven up in Heaven” my Aunt Anne, your Mother, will be baking everything and anything to welcome her precious child, Robert Mark Reed. Robert was a kind soul who made you comfortable immediately and truly was interested in what you had to say. I was privileged to reconnect with him over the last few years and he really loved to be around his immediate family and learn about his Extended family roots and history. My greatest regret is that I did not spend more time talking with him because it was such an adventure reliving our past as cousins. Remembering working with him a couple of times as kids helping his dad my Uncle Karl in his Alton Shoe Store. You will be greatly missed by all of us that new you and loved you. Carlyn, I was very saddened to hear about Bob’s death. What an unexpected blow. Though I had just met him at church, I liked his quiet manner and the way he talked about our common interests. I saw you last Sunday, but the circumstances didn’t allow for words of condolence. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers and I wish you all the comfort God gives to his children who mourn. God bless you.
