Deacon Peters was predeceased by his parents Sam (Naseem) Peters and Virginia (Savio) Peters and his brother Edward Peters. Loving cousin of William F. (Marty) Peters, William J. Peters, Rochelle (Jack) Linhares, Joyce (Bob) Herleth, Jan (Keith) Halloran, and Steve (Anne) Savio.
Louis attended St. Cecilia’s elementary school, St. Mary’s High School, and graduated from UMSL. He served in the United States Air Force with the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Following his honorable discharge, he received his Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from St. Louis University. He taught and was principal of Assumption Elementary School followed by 18 years as Director of Personnel in the Catholic Education Office of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. For the last 14 years of his career as an educator he taught and was principal of Chaminade College Preparatory School.
Louis was an ordained deacon serving the Maronite Church of St. Louis. He was appointed Director of the Office of Ministry and then Director of the Office of Religious Education for the Maronite Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles. In 2013 he was appointed the Chancellor of the Eparchy by Bishop A. Elias Zaidan until his retirement in 2020.
Louis will be missed by his family, friends and members of St. Raymond Cathedral and St. Raymond-St. Elizabeth Church.

Services: Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Kutis Affton Chapel. Prayer service begins at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, September 22, at Kutis Affton Chapel followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raymond Maronite Cathedral, 931 Lebanon Drive, St. Louis, MO. 63104.

As a graduate of Assumption Grade School (Class of 1983), Mr Peters, as the Principal, he was a very powerful influence. I am sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great man and educator.
Lou is a St. Mary’s High School Alumnus, Class of 1965. On behalf of St. Mary’s faculty, staff, and students, both past and present, we extend our most heartfelt sympathy to Lou’s family and friends.
Also know that we share in your sorrow and grieve for your loss. Special mention and offerings of condolences to Lou’s classmates and to those students, who at one time or another, were either upper classmates or under classmates of his, and who may have known him personally or “of him” as someone they passed in the hallways, or shared a table with at lunchtime or maybe even participated in some of the same extra-curricular activities that Lou did from the time he enrolled as a Freshman in September of 1961 until the time he graduated as a Senior in June of 1965.
And although Lou is gone from this life, his spirit has been and will always be here on the Campus of St. Mary’s. And just as it was in life since the day he enrolled and became a “Son of Mary”, daily prayers will continue to be said and daily masses will continue to be offered for him by the Brothers of Mary.

I want you to know that I am privileged to have known you. I was especially happy to have shared with you John’s baptism – a happy memory for everyone involved.

Lou had a fulfilling life full of faith, family and friends. He traveled the U. S. and many foreign countries. He lived in Italy during his military service. Lou spoke several languages and had a vast knowledge of religion, world history, politics and geography. I was close friends with him for many years. He was a kind, loving and generous person and I will miss him and his friendship. Rest peacefully Lou.
Mr. Peters came to Assumption School as principal when I was a 5th grader, and I remember him as a wonderful Spanish and Religion teacher, too. He inspired my own lifelong love of languages, and instilled in me an enduring appreciation of our Catholic faith. He was firm, but fair, and encouraged us to be our best selves. May he Rest In Peace.
Mr. Peters was the Principal at Assumption School when I graduated in 1975. He left a memorable and indelible impression and was a profound influence. He was an exemplary teacher, caring, dedicated, and learned. I will never forget his Spanish class or his love of the Catholic faith, and his example. He was an exemplary role model and I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to be one of his pupils. May God grant him the eternal reward that he so richly deserves.
