I know you each have your special memories of your Dad. What a blessing to have memories to carry with us.
While today will be a somber & heart wrenching farewell, I’d like to share a few favorite Bob memories my family experienced, written to him.
Our visits would often find you in your blue work shirt, ready to banter unbelievable stories in a moments notice. You were always on your game with your humor, ready to square off your stories with your soft tone, never excitable, yet whispering voice! It took years of Aunt Norma saying “Bob!” before I ever realized you really didn’t have a sister! It was a given, you would be adding spice to any holiday or family dinner at our house. It was also a given that there would be Deviled Eggs & probably Fudge on the table for Bob. Mr. Mechanic, thank you for all of your spot on advice & elbow grease you gave us. You clearly loved classic Country Music & the St. Louis Blues! I am so happy that you got to see the Blues bring home the Stanley Cup in 2019!! Though my calls weren’t as frequent as they should have been, I knew better than to call and check in on a game night. You would either not answer or quickly tell me “Can’t talk now Nance”, click!
I would be neglect if I didn’t mention the many years that you dedicated your life to being the complete caregiver to your wife, our sister & aunt. Caring for Norma consumed all 24 hours of the day at times, one final thank you we send your way for doing that.
It was a privilege to sit by your bed for awhile a few days before God took you home. You didn’t know I was there, but that didn’t matter to me. Memories took the place of our talking, good memories. Our phone calls & visits ended with a “love you”, just like today.
Toot, Betty, Leann & I all appreciate you being a wonderful addition to our family as our brother-in-law & uncle. We love you!
