Passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020. Beloved husband of Araceli Leffert for over 15 and half years. Loving dad to his pets Apollo and Bandit. Adored son of Bernice Calhoun and the late Ronald Leffert. Loving brother of Dale Lenig, Wes (Crystal) Lenig, Denise (Pete) Devos, Craig (Traci) Lenig. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Andrew was very devoted to his career. After graduating High School, Andrew’s dream was to pursue his career in Law Enforcement. He started his career working as a Police Officer, and then progressed into The Department of Homeland Security as an Immigration Enforcement Agent. Andrew most recently accepted a position as a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations.
Andrew was loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, on Saturday, June 20 from 1pm until funeral service at 5pm Interment to follow in Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society, appreciated.
Andy and I became great friends at FLETC. He will be truly missed. Prayers to him and his family.
Andy was a high energy and brilliant, free spirited individual. I shared 6 months with him at FLETC in Georgia during 2019 and am glad I got to know him during that time. My family’s prayers and thoughts go out to all of his family and friends that are mourning this tragic loss. May you find the strength and resolve to continue on knowing that one day we will all be reunited with Andy again.

I met Andrew at a two-week training course in Pennsylvania almost two years ago. It is amazing how someone can make an impact on you in such a short time period, but Andrew did. We carpooled during the training course and it was great getting to know him. He recently called me and told me he had accepted a Special Agent position with Homeland Security Investigations. I won’t forget him. My prayers go out to his family. May God comfort the family.

I met Andy a few years back through work, what an amazing individual and all around great guy he will truly be missed. My condolences goes out to his family from HSI Chicago.
I was shocked and saddened to hear what happened. Leffert and I were in the same academy class in 2009. Class clown for sure but also extremely intelligent and willing to make things better. Even though we worked in different offices throughout the years, we touched base every once in awhile trying to make certain things better with the job. Recently, I had the pleasure to work with him on ERO 2.0 and got to catch up with him. It was really good seeing him and see how he advanced through the years.

Andy Leffert: the only guy in HSISAT who evacuated INTO a hurricane zone rather than away from it. 🙂 I was fortunate to be his firearms instructor last year. Andy was always the first to show up to class, ready to set up the range, always with a joke or story, and a smile. He was dedicated, a hard worker, an expert shooter. He was funny and kept us entertained, and was a good sport when I busted his chops. I feel lucky that we became friends and kept in touch after the academy. He showed so much enthusiasm for the job, the TDY he’d gone on, and the opportunity to become a firearms instructor himself. He loved showing off pictures of his dogs.
RIP Andy. Gone too soon. You will be missed tremendously.

I first met Andy “Left-Turn” Leffert at his Physical Fitness Test when he arrived at FLETC for HSISAT. I was his Physical Conditioning coach and Defensive Tactics instructor while he was here. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and was ready to train and better himself.
I didn’t know him much outside of the job or this FLETC environment, but he did make an impact while here that I remembered him for all the good reasons.
I can only imagine the impact his loss is making on his family and loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this moment.

Andy, as he told me to call him on first introduction, was a fascination on every encounter. I met him on detail in Albuquerque and he was so knowledgeable and helpful! He encouraged me to promote in the agency and he kept in contact through to my promotion offer letter providing advice along the way. Andy was hilarious and his smile could change your mood! During our weekly laundry runs, Mrs. Leffert, I found out we have the same love for thrift shops. I, also, found out he could dance, like professionally ballroom dance! Your stories had me in stitches! You will be missed, Sir! I can hear him now correcting me saying, “Andy.”
Rest In Paradise, Andy. We will laugh again soon.
