Lang (nee Pleimann), dear father of Nancy (the late Ray) Withey, Steven (Rhonna) Lang, Janice (Paul) Ott, Brenda (Ken) Schmidt, Fred (Jennifer) Lang, Mary (Steve) Potts and the late Charles “Butch” (survived by Pat) Lang, loving grandfather of 12, great-grandfather 0f 27, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
Services: Funeral at KUTIS SOUTH SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., Wed. Dec. 16, 12:30 p.m. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or the Charity of your choice appreciated. Visitation Tues. 3-7 p.m.
It was my privilege to know Chuck Lang when he was the radio man on our combat B-17 Flight crew in the 100th Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force, during WW ll. Chuck was an excellent crewman who with great skill maintained radio contact with our home base in England when we were deep inside Germany during a combat mission. . I greatly appreciate Chuck’s outstanding service especially his use of the aircraft radio during a January 1945 crash landing in Belgium enabling our crew of 10 to survive without a scratch although the aircraft was totaled.
I have had the pleasure to know Chuck, since my daughter Jen married his son Fred! I always felt so welcome when I visited him and his wife Pauline. He was a wonderful man and I loved listening to him talk. He will be greatly missed by his wonderful family! My heart goes out to all of them!
