Born February 20, 1948, died Monday, January 9, 2023. Beloved son of the late Joseph Frank and Margaret Marie Dolezal (nee Sitner). Dear brother of Shirley Christine Dolezal-Heaghney. Dear friend of many.
Joe Graduated from O’Fallon Technical Highschool in 1966. He served in the army from 1971 to 1973 and was promoted to sergeant E-5 during Vietnam. He worked as a toolmaker, machinist, and was hired by Chrysler Corporation where he was promoted to Manufacturing Tool Engineer for close to 30 years.
Joe loved all animals, birds, and mammals. He volunteered at the World Bird Sanctuary for years. He fed all the wild animals at his home every night, including animals such as birds, raccoons, opossums, and cats. His passion was bass fishing, doing magic, shooting pool, helping people, and taking care of his little dog.
SERVICES: Funeral service at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., Monday, January 16, 10:00 am. Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to World Bird Sanctuary, 25 Bald Eagle Dr., Valley Park, MO., 63088. Visitation Sunday, 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

Im memory of Joe Dolezal, Joe was a very special person who was a friend to the bird sanctuary in Valley Park Missouri. I knew Joe as a Tool and Die Engineer at the Chrysler complex in Fenton Missouri during my 45 years working there and little did I know that he was an animal lover until retirement when I took up Eagle watching and birds in general as a picture taking hobby and that’s when I was blessed to know Joe. Living on a lake of many different types of birds put me in a position of needing and expert and so I got to know Joe Dolezal who knew every picture of every bird that I sent him. I have thrown together and I mean thrown together without editing some of my bird pictures and this is just a fraction of my bird pictures that I have asked Joe for names, so don’t be disappointed if there seem to be some repetition. Just for the record my picture count is at 326,000 and I went through all of them to pull out the bird pictures. Joe was always excited when I would send him a picture of a not so common bird and even the common birds he was just a bird loving kind of a guy, or anything that had to do with water and fishing. I could never get into fishing so we didn’t share that commonality, but he was a life saver when it came to identifying a bird. My sincere sympathy goes out to the family of Joe. Joe was a wonderful friend and neighbor. He was always there if I needed help with anything . Best memory is on Halloween. We never laughed so loud. Joe came to my house and captivated every child with his raccoon!! Joe coined my two long haired chihuahuas as “ Pitbulls dressed up like chihuahuas on Halloween “!!! Joe yelled across the room at Miss Sheri’s Cafeteria. “ Hey Carol, is that you. Didn’t recognize you with your clothes on”!!! The cafeteria went into a hysterical laughter. Will miss you Joe.
