I served with MAJ Dodson in the 351st Civil Affairs Command in Mountain View, California. He was and is a highly respected officer valued by me and others for his sound work. He is missed, but appreciated.
Lan, you were one of the good ones. You always had a kind word and a smile whenever I saw you. I don’t think you knew how much it meant to me because of everything going on back then.

Please accept my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences. Lan meant so much to me and the 351st Civil Affairs Command. I am proud to have known and served with him for the last 3 years and will miss him dearly. I would love to hear one last movie quote from some obscure movie we both watched 20 years ago or hear how great the ST Louis Blues are.
To Cheryl, Kylie, and Kortney, please know that he was loved by his Army family and we mourn with you this tragic loss.
May the Lord give you and your family the strength, my deepest condolences to your loss. He will never be forgotten.
Dear Cheryl and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God comfort you during this difficult loss of husband, father, son, uncle and much more to so many people. We love you and continue to intercede in prayer on your behalf.
Always enjoyed seeing Lan and Cheryl at gatherings. Always a lot of fun. Rest in Peace Lan.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all
Words still fail me trying to express how I feel about his passing. Lan would know exactly what to say at this moment.
We would tease each other over our choice in teams, especially since we both grew up in Missouri and attended same college. I am a Chicago fan, him St Louis.
I would crack up in my office when I heard him on the phone (several doors down from mine) talking to one of the downtraces, because I always knew exactly who it was and the outcone was always the same. Kinda like the movie Groundhog Day.
He never judged. I appreciated how he still reached out to see how things were after I went on mil leave.
He had an incredible work ethic and kept things going. He will never knowvthe impact he made on all of our lives.
Thanks for the laughs Lan. You will be missed. Never forgotten.
Cheryl, Kortney, and Kylie, you are in my prayers.
“The sun, the moon, the wind, the stars, will forever be around, reminding you of the love you shared, and the peace he’s finally found.”
I am so sorry for your loss. May God grant peace and wrap his loving arms around you all during this time. Will miss you Lan! RIP Lan.
I don’t even know what to say. Lane worked at Checkpoint Charlie with me. He was at my home playing spades. He held my oldest child. He was just a young Private…..I knew he was commissioned. He was a great Soldier in Berlin. He will be missed. My heart breaks……
I’m so very sorry for the loss of MAJ Dodson. I never met him, but just reading about him I see he was a most excellent soldier, leader, and family man – loved and missed by many. At some point I would like to connect with his family. If there is a way our organization can honor and remember MAJ Dodson, we will surely do this. Again, my condolences, support, and prayers to his family and friends. Keri Jacobs, Co-Founder of 22 Too Many
It’s 2023; I still think of you often Lan. My heart breaks thinking that was your only choice. You had so much to give, but you have it all away. RIP.
Your 2nd wife, Angie.
Rest In Eternal Peace Sir
