Entered into eternal life on September 8, 2022.
Bill is survived by his loving companion of 21 years, Mary Zubert; his adoring children Carey Ricks (Jason) and Jennifer Greffet (Jim); his siblings, Jim (Muriel) Christman, Peg Wallace, Cathy (Dave) Jensen, Paul (Jane) Christman, Patricia J. (Michael) McCormack, and Carol (John) Appelbaum; his 6 grandchildren: Jack, Lila, Will, Charlie, Bennett and Marlow; his chosen family Christine, Margaret and Mike Zubert; and the mother of his children Laura (Herb) Golterman. Our dearest father, brother, uncle, coach, and friend to countless others.
He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Juliette Christman, brother Mark Christman; and brother-in-law, Tom Wallace.
Bill was born on March 30, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in South St. Louis City with his 7 brothers and sisters. Bill attended St. Louis University High School where he played soccer, and forged lifelong friendships. The SLUH motto is “Men for Others”, and he personified that ideal throughout his life. He attended MacMurray College, playing goalkeeper for the men’s soccer team.
Bill had a successful career as an IT Manager, beginning at 7UP Headquarters in the early 1970s. It was there he forged some of his most important friendships which remain steadfast to this day. Bless you, Pat Ryan.
Bill’s life revolved around his faith, family, friends, and the St. Catherine Labouré Community, where he most recently served as the Athletic Director. He was a parishioner for over 40 years, serving in various roles in the Men’s Association, and coaching his daughters’ and grandchildren’s sports teams. His cheers will forever be missed on the sidelines.
Bill will be remembered as a man steadfast and devoted in his faith, a trait he carried on from his parents. He was an avid golfer, who loved to grill and cheer on his St. Louis Cardinals.
SERVICES: Visitation will be held at Kutis Affton Funeral Home (10151 Gravois Road 63123), September 14 from 4-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Catherine Labouré Church on September 15 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the St. Catherine Labouré Men’s Association, an organization that was close to Bill’s heart.

Bill was a good friend, loyal fellow parishioner, and always competitive golf partner.
Most of my memories with Bill center around our guy weekends held at the Lake of the Ozarks and believe me there are many. With great sadness those came to a sudden halt.
Rather ironic that my last conversation with Bill centered around health issues, medications, etc. both past and present.
Bill will always be fondly remembered in the hearts of the SCL community.
Rest in peace Billy
What a wonderful tribute! May the Holy Spirit allow everyone to find peace!
My sympathy and prayerful support are with each of you who loved Bill so very much. I have fond memories of visiting with Bill, Peg and Tom at the “Bilton” and feeling at home because Bill was most welcoming. When Peg and I served at St. Sabina Parish in Florissant in 1965-66, Bill, age 12, visited Peg there with his parents and some of his brothers and sisters. Bill, some of his siblings and I would play some fun ping pong games in the basement.
Dear friend Mary,
My heart breaks for you. Loving thoughts and prayers for you and all those who knew and loved Bill.
