Shirley Padfield Callahan (Niles) passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021, at the age of 93 following a long battle with dementia.   She is preceded in death by her parents, James H. Niles and Lillian M. Niles (Brune), sister LaVerne “Mickey” Miller (Bill), brother Roland Niles (Earline) and beloved son, David L. Padfield.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Padfield and Riley T. Callahan.

Shirley is survived by her children, Larry Padfield (Nancy), Rae Ann Padfield, and Don Padfield (Kathy), two granddaughters, Kate Gendron (Erick) and Meredith Martin (Trent), stepson, Dennis Callahan (Gloria) and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was a life-long resident of St. Louis (went to Cleveland High School) and was a proud member of Zion Methodist Church and later Grace United Church of Christ.   During her lifetime she volunteered her time with various organizations including the Boy Scouts, Cahokia Mounds, and THEOS bereavement support.  She also enjoyed traveling to see the sites of the U.S., but most of all she loved getting together with family and friends.

Her family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Sunrise of Des Peres for the care and love she received while living there.

Visitation Friday, February 12, 10:00 a.m. until Service 12:00 p.m. at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd.  Interment St. Marcus Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Greater Missouri Chapter), the St. Louis Zoo, or a charity of choice.
