Aloysius “Al” Bourisaw passed away on the morning of September 4, 2021.
Al is survived by his wife Evelyn of 55 years, daughters Jennifer (Chris) Hoefke, Heather (Brian) Wood, brother Gary (Laura) Bourisaw, and grandchildren Emilia Hoefke and Dean Wood. Al was a loving husband, father, friend, and the best “Papa” to his two grandchildren.
Al was a retired superintendent of the Hancock Place School District. He loved to fly fish and spent countless hours tying his own flies. In 2016, Al was able to go on his dream fly fishing trip to Argentina. He was a member of Ozark Fly Fishers, Federation of Fly Fishing, and North Arkansas Fly Fishers where he developed life-long friendships.
Al loved the outdoors, watching sports, reading, and spending time with his family. Being with his grandchildren was his greatest joy!
Al was a Vietnam War Veteran. He was an Army Staff Sergeant, 9th Infantry Division.
Services: A Memorial Gathering will be held at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Saturday, September 11, from 1-4 p.m. with military honors at 4 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Conservation Department and the Animal Protective Association (APA).
Al will be missed by so many, I was fortunate to fish many years with Al, from the waters of Missouri,Arkansas,Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado and the ultimate trip to Argentina.
I have been blessed to have known Al and spend so many hours together talking fly fishing our military service in Vietnam and of course the St.Louis Cardinals.
As mentioned Al made so many friends over the years, and so many will miss Al sitting at the church pew at Hargrove’s Fly Shop.
Al will be with me and so many others, every time I fly fish and when the catching is slow wondering…..What Fly Would Al Use?

Al was the best brother-in-law ever. He was always there for me and my family especially after my husband Frank passed. Will miss him at all our family celebrations and going to ballgames. He did so much for Lemay community especially the Hancock schools which meant a lot to me because I graduated from there as well as my dad and many Hartmann family members.

My deepest sympathies to the Bourisaw family. I was his brither Gary’s college roommate our freshman year, and I remember how much Gary admired Ak. May the Lord’s perpetual light shine on Al, and may he rest in peace.
I had the privilege of guidingAl numerous times on fly fishing trips on The Little Red River in Arkansas. He was not only an expert fly fisher but a true gentleman and I am certainly fortunate to have known him

Al was my first contact with fly fishing. He was a kind and caring person who always took the time to teach. And I will always treasure the custom fly rod he made that I won at a raffle. My deepest condolences to his family.
My deepest condolences to your family. I have known and worked with Al many years at Hancock. First meet him when was a teacher for my younger brothers, then as principal at the high school with my sons and finally when he was superintendent when I became the high school secretary. Prayers from my family.
Mr. Bourisaw was my principle at Hancock Place in Lemay. I remember him as a patient man who took being principle as a serious duty. I respected Mr. Bourisaw even when I messed up in class. This is a little late but my condolences to he and his family.
