Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church and passed on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Loving husband to Mary Beth Bettag, father to Stephanie (Bob) Croghan, John (Lisa) Bettag, Jeff, Stacey (Dan) Sandweg, Christine (Eric) Hendricks and Stephen (Jennifer) Bettag. Wonderful Grandpa to Molly, Ryan, Drew, Meg, Kylie, Annie, Lilly, Chelsea, Alex, Catherine, Neil, Jillian, Genevieve, Nolan, Cece, Emma and Bella. Wonderful brother, godfather, uncle and friend.
Jack loved anything that revolved around his family. Jack and Mary Beth loved their car trips to many of the Blessed Shrines in the US. He loved his garden and enjoyed golf. Jack started his career with Southwestern Bell in `58 and retired in `91. He served as a Reserve in the Coast Guard. He was a Distinguished Toastmaster and three term Lemay Fire District Board Member. His Catholic faith defined his life, a legacy to his family.
Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Monday, September 21, 9:30 AM to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Martin of Tours parish or St. Andrew parish appreciated.
Visitation will take place at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois, on Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 4pm-8pm

Cousins by marriage, related and brought together by choice, my husband Jack and your Jack were both lights in this life casting a special glow on all who were around them. Children and grandchildren continue to walk the path Jack and Mary Beth began; what a wonderful legacy he left and your Mom continues. Thoughts and prayers for all.
Jack and I grew up in South St. Louis, he was a lovely kid, an exceptional man. Although we had only kept contact via emails over the years, it seems like yesterday that we played ball in Francis Park, ate bar-b-que and got told off by our parents for running around too much! Our condolences to Mary Beth and the rest of the family, may he rest in peace, a more deserving man to claim his place in heaven will be my cousin ‘Jack’.
Mary, please accept my heartfelt condolences for the loss of Jack. He was my first boss when I joined SWBT in 1966. We remained friends since.
So sorry to hear of Jack’s passing but I know he is with his Savior. I enjoyed Jack and Mary Beth’s friendship through OLS and high school years and more recently during trips to StL for golf and the Oldtimers lunch. He will be missed by many.
