Wosman, Rev. Richard, SM

Baptized into the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection on January 21, 2019. Beloved son of the late Adrian F. Wosman and Mary E. Wosman (Vollmer); loving brother of Mary Frances (Tom) Saranita, James (Brenda), Pat Clary (Dan Fisher), John (Kathy), Sue (Mike) Schwent and Michael; proud and loving uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Richard took great pride in his role as an educator and administrator. He was always  grateful for the many acts of kindness and mutual respect of his many students and fellow administrators during his years of service to others. He was thrilled to be a priest bringing the message of the Gospels into classrooms and boardrooms throughout his career.

Fr. Wosman attended St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1977, St. Mary’s  University in San Antonio, University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto, and Saint Louis University. Richard professed to the Society of Mary in 1981 and was ordained in 1993. His career highlights include: Teacher at St. Mary’s High School, 1981-84; Principal/President St. John Vianney High School, 1994-2002; President of John F. Kennedy High School, 2015-2017; Associate Pastor St. Alban Roe Parish, Wildwood 2015-2018. His most  recent position in the Archdiocese was Director of Faith  Formation for Secondary Schools for the Office of Catholic  Education and Formation, 2018-present. His service outside the Archdiocese includes: Teacher at St. Boniface Diocesan High School, Winnipeg, Canada, 1984-89; Teacher Central Catholic High School, San Antonio, 1993-94; Faculty St. Mary’s  University, San Antonio 2002-2012; Director of Catholic  Leadership Programs at St. Mary’s University 2004-2013; President, Central Catholic High School, San Antonio, 2013-2015.

Services: Visitation at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton, 3-8 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019. Brief visitation prior to funeral Mass at St. Alban Roe Parish, Wildwood on Friday, January 25 at 9:30 a.m. followed by 10:30 a.m. Mass. Private interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations are preferred to either St. Mary’s High School Tuition Assistance Fund or St. John Vianney High School Scholarship Fund.
