David Eugene Whitener age 66, August 4, 1955 to January 10, 2022 Festus, MO, formerly of Bryan, TX.  At rest after fighting a long hard battle with colon cancer.  He was a 1973 graduate of Windsor High School and a 1977 graduate of Henderson State University.  David was the son of the late Arthur Eugene and Mildred (nee: Skaggs) Whitener.  He played college football and was a member of Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity at HSU.  David was an Agent for Century 21 while in Texas prior to his illness.  He was an avid golfer and played every chance he could.  He had 4 hole-in-ones.

David is survived by: his wife Debbie (Hunter) Whitener, a daughter Halee LaDart and fiance (Morgan) of Louisiana, a sister: Deena (Billy) Truka of Imperial, MO, two step children: Aubree (Mike) Birkenmeier and Bill Oster (Kayelah) and grandson Brayden LaDart of Louisiana.  Many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceded by his parents, brothers: Darrell and Doug Whitener

David will be missed by many on and off the golf course.  He asked that those who wish, wear golf attire to the funeral service as we send him off with his putter to the greens in the heavens.

Donations in lieu of flowers to Shriner’s Hospitals.  Please get screened for colon cancer and follow the doctor’s recommendations.  Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road Sunday, January 16, 4 to 7 pm. Funeral service Monday 10 am.  Then meet for interment Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Fredricktown, MO 12:30 pm.
