Doloris was born in Randolph, Nebraska on May 13, 1926 to Ivan & Annabelle Burkinshaw. She was the first of 5 children.  Her siblings were Evonne, Gerald, Louanne, and Harold (Genie).  During High School she enjoyed being a majorette, twirling the baton.  After graduation she taught in a 1-room schoolhouse in Brocksburg, NE.  Doloris then moved to Omaha, NE to work for the government.  As World War II wound down her job took her to St. Louis, MO.  There she met Raymond Weis, who was returning from his service in the U.S. Navy, and soon they were married.

Doloris and Ray were the proud parents of 3 sons: Steve (wife Kaye), Don (wife Debbie), and Dave (wife Annette). Doloris was often heard telling people she had the best boys.  They remember when she was their Den Mother in Cub Scouts, and her being there when they got home from school, to talk about their day.  Also, when they started part time jobs, Doloris made sure they had meals before and after work, which became interesting when Ray and the 3 boys were all on different shifts and schedules.  As their family expanded, Doloris and Ray were blessed by 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Doloris and Ray spent many days in their motorboat or on motorcycle trips. Doloris read cookbooks almost like reading a novel.  After Ray retired they enjoyed their vacation home in the Ozarks, where they lounged on their pontoon boat, swam in the lake, played dominoes, and went to country western music shows.

They enjoyed traveling, usually with friends, and went on cruises and adventures all over the United States, plus Europe. Doloris liked music (big bands, Loretta Lynn, …) and attended concerts at Carondelet Park.  After the concert sometimes she got a DQ blizzard.  When they weren’t on the go, they loved to spend time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.  And the kids loved them!
