Robert Joseph (Bob) Vornberg, 39, beloved son, brother, uncle and dear friend, departed this life on January 4, 2023 after an illness. A native resident of St. Charles, MO, Bob was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart and Duchesne High School, and he earned an associate degree from ITT. Bob worked as a meat cutter at Shop & Save for over 10 years, and was employed with Client Services for several years before his illness.
Bob was a very creative and compassionate person, known for his sense of humor, thoughtful gifts and loyal friendship. He loved modern film, performed standup comedy, played roller hockey, attended Blues games, and was a devoted fan of Pro Wrestling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew who adored their “Uncle Bobby.”
Bob was preceded in death by grandparents Ralph and Clara (Senf) Vornberg, Haskel and Mildred (Farmer) McMillon, and by brothers Nicholas and Nathaniel. He is survived by his parents Robert W and Brenda (McMillon) Vornberg, sister Katherine and her husband Brian Hess, nieces Madeleine and Kayla, nephew Brooks, and numerous relatives and friends.

You will be missed…the only other person I knew outside the comedy club, that had the intestinal fortitude to go up on stage and “do it”. We played cards together on a weekly basis for a long period of time. I am thankful to have known you. Rest in peace my friend

Where to begin? Joe and I have know you since preschool. You have always been like a brother to us. There are so many memories it is hard to know where to begin. Trips to Michigan, hanging out with the Pattersons, poker games, concerts, Cardinals games, filming wrestling videos, making movies, so many good times. I still can’t believe I won’t see you again or get a funny text from you. Your sense of humor was one of a kind. I have never known anyone with such sharp wit and creativity. I am so grateful to have known you and made so many awesome memories. You touched so many lives over the years and yet were so humble. I wish we had more time with you, but we don’t get to decide that. I will truly miss you Bob, rest in peace.

I keep waking up in the morning and getting a gut punch when I realize I can’t call, text or hang out with you anymore.
A gut punch doesn’t even describe it. Tenacious D’s “Dude I Totally Miss You” can’t even get it done. Nothing can.
What you and I had transcended friendship. You were my brother, from before I even have concrete memories.
My whole life I’ve had you, and even though I always knew how supremely talented and hilarious you were, I don’t think I truly appreciated the scope of those things until now that you are gone.
You were the consummate showman. The life of the party. The master of the details that brought life to a scene, joke or skit. You were brave in a way I could never fathom, you would put yourself out there with 0 fear of failure. Whether it was serenading a lonely girl sitting alone at karaoke night, hopping up on stage for stand up comedy or dropping a promo in the wrestling ring; when it was time for a show you never backed down. You shined in the spotlight with a style and swagger that made me so proud to be your best friend.
I am also one of the privileged few to know “the man behind the curtains”. I saw the part of you that not everyone else saw. The love and respect that you had for your parents, Katy, Brian and your nieces and nephew defined you in a way that I’ll never be able to put into words. You loved and treasured your family dearly, and I consider myself so lucky that I got to be a part of that through my formative years. I am a better man today because of it.
Even though I wasn’t always an angel (sorry about that chandelier Mrs. Vornberg) I was always a part of the Vornberg family.
I know you are in a better place now, lighting up Heaven like it never has been before. Tell everyone I know up there I said hello, and watch out for that Scott Hall toothpick toss.

I am so sorry for your lose. I can not find any words to say how sorry that I am. Your family will be in our prayers.
Bob and I met in 1998 freshman yr in highschool and spent a large part of the next 2 decades hanging out and going on crazy adventures. We spoke the same language and developed over the years certain words and phrases as a kind of shorthand that both parties used and understood.
“Whoop Whoop” means “hello and goodbye”
“Sizzling” Means “cool, fun activity”
“Flubberlane”. Means to “mess up badly”
“These pretzels are making me thirsty”. Means getting progressively more and more angry.
So I might say “Whoop Whoop homie”
He would say, “what’s sizzling”
I would say “I really flubberlane’d at work and forgot to request off to go to the concert”.
He would respond “These Pretzels Are Making Me Thirsty!!!”
The words used above came from ICP, Tech ni9e, Tenacious D, and Seinfeld, and there are many more examples.
We just took details from our shared passions and Incorporated them together until we had a unique way of communicating with each other that we both valued and understood.
Whenever we spoke again after a long stretch one of us would use a specific word, and we would fall right back into place like nothing had changed. Bob was just that kind of old friend that could tie everything back together again at the beginning.
Bob loved to bring joy to those around him and lighten the mood with laughter. Even if the laughs we’re at his own expense, which he often made sure they were.
He kept me entertained and laughing so hard I couldn’t catch a breath at times. Bob always made doing the mundane feel larger than life and extra special.
He was very thoughtful, kind hearted considerate, creative and fiercely loyal, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We never had the pleasure of meeting Bob Jr. but we know his father and he must have been an extraordinary son. God bless and safe journey.

Bob, you were a member of our family for many years, being the best friend of my nephew. We always loved your presence and the name Bob/Bobby, would always bring a smile, because you had such a great sense of humor. You were a delight to have around and be around. I remember all the Michigan trips you went on with us, and the fun had by all. I remember the time you spent with my own son, Dan, over at Joe and Kyra’s house. Those times meant a lot to Dan. You will be truly missed Bob.
To the Vornberg family- your son was a delight and we were always glad when he was at our family gatherings. My deepest condolences and sincere prayers to you all as you go through this loss.
Bob, I have known you since you were 4 years old. You were kind of a fixture, there frequently as my two were growing up. I can’t remember how many family events you were there for. You accompanied us on several of the Michigan trips. Those were in honor of her mother who we also lost too soon. I was looking at some of the videos from those trips and it impressed me that Marie’s family did a GREAT job choosing the camp grounds we went to in Michigan. Glad you were able to accompany us to those awesome places. But they are/were nothing compared to where you are now. As I have matured as a Christian, I have come to see just a sliver of what God has in store for us. WOW! We on this earth cannot even imagine what God has prepared for us ! Marie and I feel privileged that we got to spend time with you during your last hours on this earth, and be helpful, even if in small ways. I will never forget your demeanor that night. Not timid or afraid, but confident and assured. I will never forget searching for the Blues game on the hospital television system. When we finally found it I said “there, we found it “. You replied “YOU found it”. I chuckled and replied “yeah, I guess I did”. As we were leaving, we had stepped just outside your room ; in a strong voice you called us back. You asked about checking into (I believe tickets for) “W “ something. I believe it related to wrestling. Marie replied “we’ll check into that tomorrow”. You said “good or okay “ and were satisfied.
Miss you already. Please say hello to others I miss up there especially Danny and my parents. Show me around when I get there. Joe’s Dad.
Some of Boob’s…sorry I meant Bob’s characteristics that stick out the most for me over the decades are funny, witty, charming, loveable, creative, theatrical, optimistic, devoted, and a smile that could light up any room. I’ll always remember our Michigan trips, watching Joe and Bob create wrestling VHS tapes as boys until were grown (Keith finally had them take it outside as they upgraded to destroying tables and chairs in the process), the Nintendo wars we had, our family events you attended, to meeting our children, and to growing old and texting.

Bob was in my class at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles. Bob was a joy to have in class. He was known for his kindness and spirit of generosity. He always included those that were left out. Yes, he had a great sense of humor, and he could lighten the mood. He was a peace maker.

Shocked to hear about Bob. I went to high school with him and he was always a nice guy with a smile on his face at a difficult time in my life. I’ll never forget him and Steve the “ICP gangsters”. Sucks I’ll never get to see him again.
I love you Bob. So many great memories with you. Didn’t matter how long we didn’t see each other for. It always felt like we picked up right where we left off. From Our sisters’ brownies to birthdays and Blues hockey, ping pong, WWF, laser tag, football in the snow in your front yard, road rash 2 on sega, playing pool, hiding from our parents as kids so we didn’t have to go home. You’re a great person and friend. May God be with you and bring you peace.
So sad to hear of this loss. Bob and I were great friends many years ago. We met freshman year of high school and instantly bonded over our love of hockey, and even played roller hockey together for several years. He introduced me to the world of wrestling as he did most friends. I’ll never forget his humor and endless knowledge of Seinfeld. We may have lost touch over the years, but I often think back fondly on the times we shared.

Most of what happened in high school is a distant blur, but Bob’s laugh is one memory that’s never faded. We had a handful of running jokes, most of which are not intended for polite company and hopefully were never heard by any of our teachers, but to Bob, regarding a running agreement that we discussed regularly for over a year:
I eventually caved in, man, probably before you did, if you ever did. And you know what? You were right; it was pretty cool.

So sorry to hear of this loss. I went to ASH and DHS with Robert and if there was assigned seating we were always next to each other. He was a kind and gentle soul and I’m sorry his time was cut short but I will alway remember the sweet boy that I had the privilege of sitting next to for many years in school.
Bob you were quite a character. I remember youre enegry, humor, and attitude towards life was great. Your memory will always bring a smile to my face. Rest easy my friend, may the four winds blow you safely home.
