Adam Joseph Ulrich Sr., 81 of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on August 11th, 2021 fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church and surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Adam is survived by wife Carolyn along with their 6 children: Adam Jr (Kim), Steven, Michael (Jennifer), Laura, Emily Romano (Anthony), and Daniel (Amber); as well as by his 13 grandchildren: Nathan Brickler (Monica), Sean Brickler, Carson, Madison, Morgan, Adelyne, Charlotte, Landon, Reese Romano, Katharina, Sophia Romano, Benjamin, and Harrison.

He was brother-in law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was a tinkerer, early riser, jokester, and hard-worker who loved his family, friends, camping, road trips (here’s to you “Broken Ladder”), and sports…especially sports.

Born to parents Frank and Katharina Ulrich on October 12th, 1939 in Futok, Yugoslavia, he was a survivor of WWII and immigrant from Germany.  He was a diligent student and athlete. Graduate of Washington University Class of 1964 with a degree in Education. He served in the United States Air Force.

He was a prototypical “working family man,” splitting his time between his full-time employment as a teacher, counselor, and school principal, coaching his children at sports, and night-school to achieve a master’s degree in Education.

He was a very outgoing, smart, and confident man who loved spending time watching sports, meeting new people, and always seemed to run into a familiar face wherever he went.  He was quick to relate to others and had the rare ability to make the random stranger feel right at home.

In his senior years, his favorite pastimes where armchair managing teams, yelling at the TV judge shows, bragging about his children and grandchildren to anyone who’d listen, and rummaging through his many “treasures”.

He was lovable, but difficult…as quick to praise as he was to criticize.  He had a soft spot for junk-yard dogs.  He never played board/card games with the family, but he loved having the whole family around. He loved runny eggs, spam, and beer…cheap beer, good beer, any beer…but mostly the beer brewed by his daughter, Laura.  He was hard on his family at times, but always there for support whenever they needed him.

He will be greatly missed by many but will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21st from 2pm to 4pm at Kutis South, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Mehlville, MO 63129. In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to the charity your choice
