 Baptized into the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Joan met her husband Joe as a teenager on a blind date at Springdale pool, and they eventually married in 1951.  Her life was full of the adventure raising her children, but she was also an accomplished piano player and shared her music with all, a working Mom for 20+ years at Famous Barr, she loved nature hikes, camping, animals, and live theater.  She taught her children to Ice Skate at Carondelet Park.  Joan had a quick wit and sense of humor and could fill the house with her laughter.  Joan passed on Mother’s day, her day, which is reflective of her selfless devotion to her children and everyone in her life.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Tierney; loving mother of Daniel (Caren), Michael, Terence (Christine), David (Kathy), Susan, Andrew “Bo” (Elissa), Anne, Matthew (the late Christy), Christopher (Chumel) Tierney, and Janet (John) Fodge. Adoring grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of 13. Our dearest aunt, great-aunt, and friend to many.

Services: Memorial Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois on Thursday, May 25, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, May 26 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church at 12 noon. Inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to N.A.M.I. or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, appreciated.
