Dad, we will truly miss you but we know you are in a much better place with Mom by your side again.
Dear Dan, Brad, Tim and Greg,
We are so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. He was such a wonderful man and there was never a better neighbor in the world. Always a smile, always kind and such a great sense of humor! I’m glad he be with your mother in paradise and hope that you find comfort in all the wonderful memories you had with him! God bless all of the Swallow family.
George, I hope you know how much you will be missed. At the same time I’m so happy that you are with Jackie again. The two of you were such a kind, loving, and funny pair. A match made in Heaven.
God bless you and those you left behind.
Dear Swallow family,
I’m so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. He was such a fun guy! My “fondest” memories of him are the famous Indian rope burns he gave me on a regular basis! Lol! Oh, let’s not forget he kept his vehicles so pristine they always looked like they just drove off the show room floor. I have so many fond memories of both your mom and dad. They were such a joy to be around. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing they are reunited, and happily enjoying a martini together….taking pride in the wonderful family they created.
My very deepest sympathy to you all.
George, you and Jackie always put a smile on my face when we had the chance to visit–your quick wit and comedic timing were such a treat and will be missed. Give Jackie a heavenly hug for us, you’ll be missed!
Dan,
Darryl and I are praying for you and your family.
Uncle George and your WHOLE family,
We will miss you as much as Jackie is happy you’ve joined her in heaven! You were patriarch of a wonderful happy enriching family, with a lot of fun and character! I’m glad Jack’s interest in his Great Uncles’ naval careers led to some quite informative breakfasts!
You and Jackie are likely the only couple to meet and marry due to Mountain Lake Hunting and Fishing League, where your family spent so many memorable weekends. 73 years you were a member!
My love to you and your 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren! John
Hi George, You always teased me–wrestled and held me down until Mom made you let me go. You and Edwin cut my birth date out of the calendar and put rocks in my Easter basket.
When you and Edwin were in the navy, Mom had your pictures out. Daily, I saluted you two.
I’ll miss our times at Mountain Lake–years ago, when we could swim off the boat, paddling you around fly fishing. More recently, you with gin, me with scotch, enjoying Limburger cheese.
See you later! your little brother, Lou
When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.
When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.
When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.
Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance, fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of
dark, cold
caves.
And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

Mr. Swallow was such a terrific role model when I was much younger. Dan, I’m so sorry for your loss. Dan and Cheryl and family, you have my sincerest sympathies. Tim, Brad and Greg, and families, my deep condolences. All of you were so fortunate to have such a great man as a father, grandfather and great grandfather. My admiration for him will never fade. May he rest in peace and enjoy his heavenly reward with your beloved mother. God bless you all.
Thanksgivings at Jeanne,my sister & husband Lou when I met hi I was still wearing Fruit of the Loom undershirts! That T’giving w the whole gang (I was out of undershirts then) & as I recall George & I & Jackie were life of the party & out of control breaking in their new house for many celebrations to come. George & I bonded as party people right away & Jackie urged us on. She has been missed as has my sister Jeanne for a while but the earth will shake when we ALL get together in God our father’s mansion. As the Bible tells us Our Lord has many mansions for all. George pave the way for appropriate behavior for us all. I didn’t get to see you & Jackie much but we made good use of every second we had. Mickey & I send our warm, loving condolences which we hope will help Lou & the rest of the Swallows. God will support you & carry you on his shoulders when needed. We regret we can’t be at JB to say our loving farewell but know you will get it somehow. We send God’s greatest blessing & thank you for your military service. Bless your& you’re forever & forever. Sent from Jinnie & Micheal Drake w all our love & eternal blessings.
George, the foursome is finally back together again, you, Jackie, Bob and Melba. Remembering the times you all had and imagining the times you’ll continue to have will make it a little bit easier for us to laugh and talk about you all. Your the last of them and will be sorely missed. I love you
I am so sorry to hear of both your Mom and Dad’s passing. George was my boss for several years at Monsanto. He was always so nice to me and all those who reported to him. He took and early retirement and I moved on to another job. My husband and I went to several parties at Jackie and George’s house. They were so cute together and always so much fun. They always talked about their boys, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. They loved you all so much!
To the Swallow Kids…the same was always used to describe George Edwin and Louis by my folks Charles and Dorothy Smith.
I am so sorry for your loss but I am so glad I visited your Dad last year and reminisced about the days when our folks were young.
He and my Dad went on the Honor Flight together. I know he will meet again with your Mom the Smiths and the Fortunes. Sue (Smith) Keightley
