Marilyn Rowena “Rhodie” Starks was born Friday, June 20,1952 to the late Rufus Joe and Dorothy Lee (nee Tweedy) Cook. She departed this life to be with her savior Jesus Christ, the one she loved, at 7:23 AM, Friday, April 10, 2020. She had battled cancer for the past two years before leaving for glory, where she received her unltimate and divine healing.

She is survived by two sisters; Margaret Schnell of St. Louis and Shirley Gaddy of Bismarck, MO.; one brother, Danny “D.K.” Cook of Wellsville, MO.; three brother-in-laws, Curtis, Brian, Jeff Starks of St. Louis, MO.; one sister-in-law, Tina Corzine of St. Louis, MO.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Rufus and Dorothy Cook; six brothers, Billy Joe, Roger, Virgil, Ronald, Aaron and Alan Cook; two sisters, Dorothy Juanita Fischbach and
Sharon Williamson; two half-sisters, June Lindamood and Margie Logan; and two half-brothers, Mosie and John Cook.

Marilyn was united in marriage on February, 6, 1988 to Kevin L. Starks. They were blessed with one son to this union, Kevin G. Starks. He was her pride and joy.

Marilyn was a retired I.R.S. contact representative. She spent 22 years working for Welsh Baby Carriage, of St. Louis MO., previous to retiring from the I.R.S.

Marilyn was a member of the Living Waters Pentecostal Church of God. She accepted the Lord Jesus into her heart and life in 1971. She was a valuable tool in the ministry. She served as Sunday school Teacher, choir director, piano player, drummer, and was very faithful in Bus and Visitation Ministry, along with being a devoted youth leader and bible quiz coach.

Marilyn “Rhodie” was known for her smile and laughter. She loved people and making people laugh. She had a way of convincing others to do it her way.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Kevin L. and her son Kevin G Starks of the home. She was our friend, mentor, confidant, and sometimes our partner in mischief (ha ha), a mighty prayer warrior and anointed song writer; a very talented musician and vocalist.

Her famous statements: “I know what I know. You’ve come too late to tell me there’s no power in prayer. That the Holy Ghost is not real.” Marilyn wanted the whole world to know, “…Only Jesus can satisfy your soul.” She was definitely a Proverbs 31, woman.
