Judith Arlene Shepp-Omre of Shiloh, Illinois passed away on November 28th, 2022, after suffering a stroke. She was born October 19th, 1943, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents, Donald and Arlene Shepp. She had one younger brother, James Edward Shepp, who she loved very much. She grew up with her brother in St. Louis, Missouri, attending St. Louis City schools and graduating from Dewey High School. She met her future husband, Roger Llyod Omre, in 1965 and married him one year later in 1966, forging a loving partnership that would last over 56 years. Judy and Roger started a family in 1970, giving birth to a son, David and daughter, Nicki two years later in 1972. She is survived by her husband, Roger, Son, David, Daughter, Nicki and her husband, Robert Whitrock, her grandson, Tyler, as well as Tyler’s longtime girlfriend, Liv Cohen. Judy was a supportive and loving mother, grandmother and wife to her family and a friend to many. She will be dearly missed.
Services: December 7, 2022. Visitation from 10:00 – 12:00 followed by a service. Departing from Kutis to St. Paul Churchyard Cemetery at 1:00.
To Judy’s family I send my sincerest condolences. Judy and I never met but spoke on the phone and Facebook a few times. She and I share the same great-great grandfather and are second cousins. Her great grandfather Charles Nicholas Shepp & my great grandfather, John Oscar Shepp were brothers. I have studied our genealogy for many years. We used to have a Shepp/e clan reunion in VA years ago, but as the older generation passed away, those didn’t continue. David, you and I met once many years ago. You were working somewhere up in north county I think, not too far north, and I saw your name tag and asked about your name. You put me in touch with your mom and she and I talked, always saying we needed to meet, and never getting it to happen! I am so sorry to learn of her death. My parents came to St. Louis after WWII for my dad’s career so all of our relatives were elsewhere. My brother & I never had any cousins here in town! Judy was the closest we ever have had. As I have done our genealogy I find we have many distant cousins, some here even but none that close. David you & I are 2nd cousins once removed, meaning one generation removed from my second cousin. I know you will miss Judy so much, the hurt will ease but you’ll never forget the wonderful memories you have. Keep them close to your hearts. We did have another cousin down in Versailles, MO but he died about 3 years or so ago. His grandfather & my grandmother were brother & sister. He refused to go to college saying he wanted to be a farmer; he was told he COULD be but with an education, so he left VA and came west to southern MO & thus he, & his father remained farmers in southern MO. My grandmother’s brother added the E to the end of the name, so my grandmother went by Sheppe until she married & so did some others, and that is my son’s middle name. But we see more Shepps than w/ the E. Thinking of you all in your sorrow, and I am so very sorry Judy & I never connected, we should have! Blessings to you all.
