passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at age 83.
Beloved husband of Jean Scowcroft (nee Snelling); loving father of Shari (John) Helbig, Susan (Michael) Jerger and John IV “Jay” (Kristen) Scowcroft; dearest grandfather of Sara (Alec), Brian, Brett, Blake, Austin, Drew and Chase; dear great-grandfather of Noah and Evan; our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.
SERVICES: Memorial Visitation Saturday, April 23, 2022 12:00 Noon until service time 2:00 pm at Kutis AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd (St. Louis). Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Missouri.
So sorry for your loss! I didn’t even know he was ill. He was a very nice man, which I’m sure is an understatement. My heart goes out to the whole family.

I only knew John and his cigar at Forest Park tennis…and what a joy he was…I really loved the guy and will miss him a great deal..
I am so sorry for your loss. John was a great guy and a man’s man. I had the great pleasure of knowing John for the past 26 years. John had the uncanny knack of showing up in my office when I felt like the world was caving in. He would walk in with his cup of coffee and sit down and with that sneaky grin of his and all of a sudden the world was back on kilter again. He was a great friend and great colleague. Each year he and Jean would come to our Christmas party . He would always remark that this was the best Mexican food in St Louis. I’ll miss his great conversations over coffee in the morning. His calls to discuss politics and what’s going on with the stock market were always stimulating. He will truly be missed by all of us who had the honor to be called his friend.
Very sorry for the loss of your loved one. May you celebrate and cherish the moments you had with him and carry them down to generations to come.

So sorry Jean for your lost. I should have kept up with you guys but time just disappeared. It was reading about Mizzou Baseball today that I thought about Johnnie and started looking.
