Beverly Barbara Schwartz (née Horner), 84, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at home, with her family surrounding her with love and care, on Saturday morning,  April 11, 2020, after a lengthy illness.

Beverly, the daughter of Peter and Bertha Horner,  was born December 16, 1935, outside of Linton, North Dakota at the Horner homestead farm.  Several years later, her parents started their own farm outside of Herreid, South Dakota where she grew up. She graduated from Herreid High School in 1953.    She married Harold E. Schwartz on June 14, 1955, in Herreid.  After Harold’s graduation from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri.

Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, Beverly worked 22 years in commercial sales, winning many awards.

She was a devoted member of St. Mark Catholic Church, having volunteered in many capacities over the years in both the church and school.

Beverly enjoyed playing bridge with her many life-long friends.

Survivors include sons, Mike (Gina), Dan and Gary (Lisa) Schwartz; grandchildren, Zachary, Elise (Gabe), Noah, Sam, Erika (Ryan) Mahoney, Garrison and Luke Schwartz; great grandchildren Rylin Mahoney and Daniel Meza; siblings Evelyn Brandner, Virgil and Pat Horner, Peter and Arlene Horner, Ken and ReEtta Horner, Gary and LeAnn Horner, Rick and Lil Rodecker and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold; her parents, Peter and Bertha Horner; brother, Milton Horner; and sister Bert Krumm Hagert.

Private funeral services conducted by Father Brian Hecktor at St. Mark Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 16, 2020, with interment following at  Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Masses or contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital preferred.
