died on March 3, 2023, having received the sacraments of Holy Mother Church.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy (nee Jackson) Schukai and dear grandson Thomas Schukai.  He is the dearest father of daughters Johanna (Leo) Schloss and Jennifer (Bill) Fletcher, and sons Bob (Linda Rowley) Schukai Jr. and David (Katherine) Schukai.  He was the proud and loving grandfather of Jackson, Hallie, Will, Thomas, Emily, Allison, Jonathan, Jack, Matt, and David.  He was a much-loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle,  cousin, and friend.

Bob was born in 1938 in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He graduated in 1960 from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering and served in the United States Army after graduation.  Bob and Nancy were married in 1962 and moved to St. Louis where he worked for Union Electric (now Ameren) until retirement in 1999.  He was a dedicated family man.  While raising four children, he served as a Scoutmaster, PTA President, and baseball coach, and volunteered to help with many of his children’s activities.  Through all this he still managed to find time to go to night school to obtain his Master’s degree in electrical engineering from St. Louis University.

Like his wife, he had a passion for golf and travel.  He and Nancy enjoyed traveling internationally and around the country, and together they enjoyed visiting family and friends along the way.  Having the children and grandchildren over to visit and play was a highlight in his life.  He loved the monthly luncheon outings with his friends from Union Electric after retirement.  And even though the job would sometimes take him on the road, there was always time to play catch in the backyard, build or paint dollhouses or model cars with the kids, dance with his wife or kids when a great song was played, or take the family out for ice cream.  We were truly blessed to have him in our lives and we now trust that the care and love he shared with us all will be rewarded in heaven by God who loves and cares for us all.

Services:  Visitation will be at Kutis Funeral Home from 4-8 PM on Monday, March 6th at 10151 Gravois Road in St. Louis, MO.  Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 7th at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church, 6737 S. Rock Hill Road, St. Louis, MO 63123.
