Mr. Schmidt was a life-time member of the American Motorcycle Association and an accomplished Gold Medal Olympian of International Six Day Trials.
Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Monday, December 12, 9:15 a.m. to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (Kingshighway) for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Masses or contributions to the charity of your choice appreciated. Visitation Sunday, 3-7 p.m.

I met Ed in 1973 at a Motorcycle dealership in Des Moines Iowa. I also got to see and talk to him at the 1973 ISDT. What a great guy. Truly missed.

Ed was a leader in the magical growth years of off road motorcycling during the 1970s. At the top of his sport, he was untypical in his humility; always friendly and willing to share his mechanical knowledge.
Our deepest sympathies to all of you. Ed was a respected friend and mentor who always had something to offer and asked for little or nothing in return. He will be missed but certainly remembered and the memories he created will last a long time. Peace to him and all of you.
