, passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in St. Louis, MO at the age of 80. Born May 20, 1938 in Marion, North Carolina.
Loving father of Christopher Lea McGinnis; Beloved son of the late Walter Lea and Jimmie Rayburn Sandy; Dear brother of Martha (Jerry) Goodling and Ray (Nan) Sandy; Much loved uncle, cousin and friend to many more.
Jimmie served 8 years in the United States Air Force from August 1956 through June 1964. He gained his experience in computer technology at the strategic air command weather station (SAC) in Omaha Nebraska. After honorably discharged, he entered civilian life as a Federal Government employee for the US Army in St. Louis MO. Retiring after 30 years of service he began a career as a government contractor with Non Army Managed Items (NAMI) under TACOM working as a Logistics Process Specialist contractor for Logistics Value Integration.
Jimmies hobbies included St. Louis Blues Hockey; St. Louis Cardinals Baseball; Harley Davidson Motorcycles; Cars and Car Shows; Reading; Computers; watching TV; and most importantly spending time with his best friend and son, Christopher. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
