Jonathan (“Johnny”) Eugene Reece, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on March 28, 2023.
Johnny was born on December 8, 1988, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ellen Marie Wiss. Johnny grew up in St. Louis with his four brothers and attended Fox Highschool. At Fox, he excelled in sports, especially football, and received a scholarship to play at Central Methodist University. Johnny always enjoyed helping others and had a genuine love for people. Following high school, he joined the Marine Corps, where he honorably served the people of this country.
His life would later be blessed through the birth of his two children, who he loved dearly. In addition to spending time with his family, Johnny enjoyed traveling to the Smokey mountains, hiking, and fishing.
Johnny is survived by his son Jonathan Eugene Reece Jr., his daughter Kenna Grace Reece, his mother Ellen Wiss, step father Greg Wiss, his brothers Jesse Reece, Jordan Reece, Nicholas Ziegler, and Zachary Wiss, his nieces Aubrey Reece and Alexa Helfin, and nephew Ryder Ziegler.
Services: Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Monday 4/3 from 4-8PM. Private funeral service and interment will be held on April 4th
Reece was a great mentor and example while we served together in the Marine Corps. We met in 2009 where he was my Platoon Guide in Basic Training. I was fortunate enough to go on to serve with him at my first Active Duty Station on Camp Lejeune.
Reece was an excellent source of knowledge, and a good friend. I looked up to him a great deal. My deepest condolences; he will be sorely missed.
Jon was and still is one of my best friends that I ever had. I loved him like a brother and still do. Can’t believe he is gone. I send my regards to all family members and friends. Sorry I can’t make it to the services.
So sorry to have heard this. As cousins, I recall many childhood memories. Sadly my journey took me away from family, and I never got to see the man you became, or meet your family. To all who loved him, you have my deepest condolences. Rest in peace, and know your family is in good hands. Sadly I will not be able to attend, but you are in my thoughts
My condolences for the family such a solid brother in arms. We lost touch as life sent us in different directions after the service but you will always be a brother. Until Valhalla keep watch over us
I had the honor of serving with Reese while stationed at Camp Lejeune and abroad in the sands. Reese, was an amazing young man who always brought a smile to anyone in his presence. He worked hard and laughed harder. He truly was an amazing addition to our team.
I am so very sorry to hear of such loss and my heart hurts for his beautiful children and family. He will forever be in my heart as one of my many “kids”.
