Platter, Rolla R. , Mon. Jan 21, 2019

Rolla Platter grew up in the rural outskirts of Licking, Missouri. one of 8 children.  He worked full-time from age 14, helping his parents support the family.  As an young adult, he moved to St Louis, working at Brown Shoe Company and also in auto-repair.  After returning from the Korean conflict in 1954, he married Helen and began their lives in St Louis.  Four children would be born over the next 24 years.  He and Helen were married nearly 65 years.  Rolla was a hard-worker, a friend who helped repair virtually anything mechanical, and a delivery driver for cement until his retirement.  He was very active in  his church, notably driving the church bus for well over 50 children and families.  Upon retirement, he and Helen moved to Leslie, Mo, for nearly 20 years.  They loved to travel, visiting over 40 US states, and 15 countries.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Platter, and his four children: Paul, Mike, Kathy, and Aleta.  From those children come 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 sons-in-law and 1 daughter-in-law.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., Fri. Jan. 25, 4-8 p.m. then to South County Church of the Nazarene, 2500 Telegraph Rd., for visitation Sat. Jan 26, 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Interment Lakewood Park Cemetery.
