Lisa Gaye Perry (nee Schoenberg) passed away holding the hand of her Fiance’ Tony on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Saint Louis University Hospital, after her long brave battle with her respiratory illness.
Lisa was born in Saint Louis, MO on September 23, 1958, daughter of the late Beryl Waunita Roach Schoenberg and Gustav Schoenberg, Jr. She is survived by her Dear Fiance’ and Endearing Caretaker, G. Anthony (Tony) Horan. She is also survived by her Brother Gustav III (Dawn) Schoenberg; Niece Brandi (Kayla) Schoenberg and Nephew Gustav IV (Crystal) Schoenberg; Great Niece Addie; Great Nephew Gustav V; her Special Extended Family Denise Cassady, Yolanda Reed (Robin) and Scott Horan; Aunts; Uncles; Cousins; Countless Friends and all of her four legged Buddies that lived with her or visited frequently especially Ditzy, Cry Baby and Nellie.
Lisa’s giving heart generally chose an occupation that would service people in all walks of life. Of all of the occupations Lisa embraced, professions encompassing dance “Tapped” into Lisa’s lifelong passion. She started dancing at the age of four (4) at Virginia Dorothy Dance Studio and continued her dance training under the superior artistic direction of Miss Gerri Stretz Meyer at Gerri Stretz Academy of Dance. Miss Gerri recognized Lisa’s talent and passion for children and Lisa soon became a part of Gerri’s staff as a Dance Instructor. Miss Lisa was a gifted teacher who truly
inspired her students, no matter what their age. Her style of teaching was magical in that she made every student feel special and encouraged each one of them to believe in themselves, regardless of their skill and ability. “One more time!” was a very familiar phrase that her students will never forget which only encouraged them to put forth their very best effort to achieve (and to make her stop saying that).
Miss Lisa also loved performing. She auditioned for, and became a member of, the Fox Tellerettes Resident Chorus Line that not only performed on the Fox Theatre stage but also at venues across the United States. Lisa could be found front and center with the prettiest feathers in her headpiece that framed her beautiful “Show Biz Smile”.
When her tap shoes were tucked away, she continued to share her love for performing with the love of her life, Tony, by supporting him as he sang songs to her at their favorite karaoke spots. Tony would always dedicate a very special song to her and sing from the depths of his heart because he wanted the world to know “he was her Cowboy”. Whenever Tony and Lisa were “in the house”, fun and happiness just flowed and filled the room. One of the happiest karaoke memories they shared was taking Lisa’s Dad with them for “his Debut” and her Dad sang a song that brought everyone to their feet with applause.
Wherever Lisa performed, she always listened for that one special applause from her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During her illness, she became very close to Him and had a hunger to learn all that she could about His Ways. Lisa may have taken her final bow here on earth but her encore now will go on forever in Heaven. There is a certainty too that her Sweet Momma, with the help and transportation by her Dear Daddy, have collected the prettiest white feathers for the Angel Wings Miss Lisa has earned. It is probable she will be found at her new address of 5678 One More Time Lane. The Heavens are shining brighter with a True Star in Heaven now and if observation presents a bright star in the center of the sky, it will be Miss Lisa’s Show Biz Smile shining down on those she so generously gifted with her love.
