Carl James Naes, 59, of Imperial died April 29, 2021, at his home. Mr. Naes was a medical supplies driver for Crossroads Fiber and had previously worked as a telecommunications infrastructure manager for Brooks Fiber. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial. Born Sept. 21, 1961, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Arnold) and Edgar J. Naes.
He is survived by his former wife of 16 years: Joy (Morrison) Naes of O’Fallon; two children: Zachary C. Naes and Austin J. Naes of Overland; and six siblings: Gerry (MaryAnn) Naes, Ron Naes, Dean (Mira) Naes, Brenda (Michael) Lewis, Linda (Ron) Noll, Lois (Jim) Protopsaltis.

I miss my youngest brother something fierce already but I will always remember the good fun times we had growing up together. I also feel blessed we were able to reconnect over these past few years. It was so good making new happy memories together with you & your sons. My heart is broken for Austin & Zach, but please know I would be there for you on Monday if circumstances were different. I will be thinking about you both all day and look forward to seeing you again soon to share loving happy memories about your Dad. Carl is the one sibling I did not want to say goodbye to. Bless your heart of gold Carl & rest in peace now.

To the family, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I worked with Carl when he was at Chick-fil-a. I always appreciated Carl, his sense of humor, his lightheartedness. He was a good guy. I wasn’t from the area, and we used to talk about seeing a Cardinals game together someday. I liked working with Carl and talking to him.
I will miss him. A friend to the end. I loved talking baseball with Carl. Cardinal nation just lost a great fan.

Uncle Carl, where do I even begin!? You, Joy & your boys were the stars in my sky as a kid. I looked up to you, admired you & loved you in a way that is indescribable. You were silly, fun, charismatic, larger than life. You always had a way of bringing a life & energy into the room (& most definitely into a family). From coming to my grade school in your awesome white Nissan Z & letting me bust outta school early to go pick out any toy I wanted at Toys R Us, week long trips to South Carolina & Knoxville … My childhood is jam-packed with memories of YOU. It breaks my heart we lost so many precious memories over the course of 20 years, but I’m beyond grateful to have had you back in our lives. I’m SO grateful my kids know who Uncle Carl is & that they got to love you too. I’m SO grateful for you & the impact you made in my life. You will FOREVER be one of my most favorite people. I love you. I love how you showed up in my childhood & I will forever cherish our bond & make sure your legacy of a joy filled life lives on. Rest in Peace with Grandma & Grandpa. Oh yes Carl happen to show up selling cable TV service at my sister Rebecca naes Fincher many years ago not knowing she lived down that way in crystal city Missouri off Highway cc he will be greatly missed.
