Beloved husband of Carol A. Myszak (nee LaMacchia); loving father of Cindy (Pedro) Coronado, Christina (William ‘’Billy’’) Busch and John J. Myszak; adoring grandfather of Gabriella ‘’Gabby’’, Alejandro ‘’Alec’’, Amelia ‘’Mia’’, Maximilano ‘’Max’’ Coronado, William ‘’Billy’’ Jr., Haley, Abigail, August ‘’Gussie’’, Grace, Madison and Peter Busch; dear brother of Martha (Ernest) Huffman and the late David (Suzanne) Myszak; our dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.

John was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory High School in 1958 where he was a multi-sport athlete. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He later attended the University of Missouri where he earned a BA in business. As a young man, he worked at his father’s real estate company, TEC Realty in St. Louis, and continued in the real estate business throughout his life. Additionally, John worked as a field manager at Nooter Corporation for 36 years before his retirement in 2005.

On June 5, 1965, he married his sweetheart, Carol, a nurse he met at DePaul Hospital. He was a loving husband for 56 years, the proud father of his 3 children, and huge fan of both of his sons-in-law. He spent much of his time adoring his 11 grandchildren. He was their papa and hero. As toddlers, their feet rarely touched the ground. John never missed a chance to spend time with them and they loved being together. He could be found playing with them in the backyard, on the sidelines of their sporting events and looked forward to the many amazing family vacations.

John was also an avid sportsman. He enjoyed tennis, basketball, being part of the skeet shooting team and bowling leagues, but his true passion was golf. His father taught him how to play as a young boy and through the years he looked forward to outings with his brother and son. He also enjoyed playing with his Tuesday golf buddies, hitting an impressive hole-in-one at the age of 71. John was a loyal St. Louis sports fan, especially of Cardinal Baseball. However, nothing meant more to him than cheering on his grandchildren. He also cherished visits from his brother and sister. John was a friend to all he met with a kind and generous heart. He loved all animals and his gentle spirit attracted them to him. He was a true light in the world and he will live in our hearts forever.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Monday, October 25, 9:15 a.m. to Assumption Catholic Church (Mattis Rd.) for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Siteman Cancer Center or the Animal Protective Association.

You will be greatly missed John. Missed seeing you and having our backyard chats this summer. Loved watching you feed birds, squirrels and all the other backyard animals. You kept our plants alive when we went on long summer trips. You were always there to help when we needed, like the one time I forgot my suitcase by the door and you brought it to the airport or getting kids from the bus stop if I was out and couldn’t make it back in time. Dimitri & Divya will miss their papa John and your occasional quips. You leave a significant hole in our neighborhood and our hearts.

John was a childhood acquaintance of mine from the time he lived in Velda Village.
His favorite mode of transportation was an old Studebaker. Many trips to his fathers cabin in Bourbon, Missouri.

I saw the obituary in the Post-Dispatch, so I want to express my condolences. When I saw the two of you at past high school reunions you seemed so happy together. You are a good person with a fine family. Praying for you .
