Age 95, peacefully went to the Lord in his home on Sunday, August 19,2019.

Devoted and caring husband of 70 years to Norma Mourre (nee Marmol); loving father to Isabel (the late Jorge) Brandon and Norma (Neil) Cantwell; loving grandfather to Colin Cantwell, Michelle Cantwell and Joshua Brandon.

Leonardo was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In 1962, after a solid business career, he immigrated with his family to the United States. His Catholic faith was a guiding principle throughout his life. He began his career at the Missouri Botanical Gardens that spanned nearly 50 years. He was a noted botanist illustrator and later worked in the bryology (the study of mosses) department. During his time at the Garden, he became a mentor to the young staff members and a trusted friend to his peers.

Sunday dinners and life with his family were his pride and joy. The family would like to acknowledge   the nurses that cared for him for the last few years, Bridget Shade, Marissa Ysaguire and Hallie Monte.

SERVICES: Visitation at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 5800 Oleatha Avenue, Thursday, August 22, 9:00 AM until the funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. A KUTIS AFFTON SERVICE.
