(nee Stoehr), beloved mother, grandmother, and friend; talented illustrator, artist, and martial artist. Passed away at home on June 1st, 2021.
SERVICES: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., on Sunday, June 6, from 4-8 pm, then on Monday June 7th at Hope Lutheran Church, 5218 Neosho St., 63109, from 10 am until service at 11 am. Interment at Sunset Cemetery.
Dear Brad and Jeffrey,
I first met your mom in the summer of 2001 when I was hired to manage special events at the St. Louis Science Center. Immediately smitten by this creative whirlwind, Susan remained my dear friend long after I moved on from SLSC to Easter Seals. She created beautiful, themed centerpieces for special events and galas and she had a knack for transforming dollar store finds into works of art! It was always a joy just being around Susan. Although we didn’t talk or see each other for months at a time, we always heard from Susan soon after Christmas. That’s when we would get a lovely card and picture of an enormous tree that was never quite fully decorated until Christmas day! The last time I spoke with Susan was this spring and it was as though not a day had passed. My husband, daughter, and I were in Florida at the time of your mom’s funeral. Had we been home, we would’ve been there to say farewell and God’s speed. Always remember that your mom was extremely proud of both of you. She loved you to the moon and back!

First, please accept my sincerest sympathy in the loss of your mother. I knew her over fifty years ago when she did freelance work for Concordia Publishing House. I was employed as a book designer and later as the art director and we collaborated on many projects over the years. Sue was such a talented and conscientious illustrator so I always knew I could depend on excellent work delivered on time when I contracted her. Just wanted you to know how much I thought of her and how truly Sorry I am for your loss.
