Ronald Charles Meyer, aka “Pops”, 63, died abruptly but peacefully in his Union, MO home on the evening of June 11th, 2021 with his loving wife by his side.
Ron was born August 18th, 1957 to Fredrick Meyer (“Pugs”) and Florence Augusta Anita (Jundt) Meyer (“Mugs”). He was the baby of the bunch, growing up in South St. Louis with one brother, Fred Meyer, and one sister, Barbara Duncan (Meyer). Ron met the love of his life, Kathy A. Meyer (Prater), in 1976. They were married June 4th, 1977 and recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary that was spent planning their 50th and upcoming vacation plans. Together, and in rapid succession, they welcomed their three children Jennifer, Jason, and Brian. They raised their family in Pacific, MO and later moved to Oakville, MO where they lived for nearly 20 years before relocating to Union, MO last year.
Ron graduated from Cleveland High School in 1976. He began working for the Coca-Cola Company in Maryland Heights, MO through Teamsters Local 303 in 1981 when he was 24 years old. Ron served many roles within the company and within the Union including shop steward, business agent, and lab technician before his retirement in 2014. Ron’s work ethic was impeccable as he worked tirelessly to provide for his growing family. During his off time, he could be found singing or humming to any Grateful Dead, Phish, or KSHE song in the kitchen or near a body of water. Ron and Kathy enjoyed countless spontaneous trips for long weekends “without a plan or destination in mind”, that almost always ended at the same lakeside resort they’ve visited for over 20 years on Tablerock Lake. As a couple, they also traveled to Hawaii, Jamaica (several times), Mexico, and countless other beautiful locations across the U.S. He enjoyed shooting, traveling, watching Kathy fish, listening to music, birdwatching, tampering with (or at minimum critiquing) food being made by someone other than him, and bullshitting. He knew how to make anyone laugh, a trait he passed on to each of his children and several of his grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother. He is survived by many that already deeply miss him including his loving wife Kathy, daughter Jennifer Morris (Meyer) and her husband Chris, son Jason Meyer and his wife Gina (Miller), son Brian Meyer and his wife Nicki (Williams), one sister Barbara Duncan (Meyer), eight grandchildren (Kassidy, Tyler, Lauren, Evan, and Griffin Morris, Ian and Isaac Meyer, and Madeline Meyer), many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 17th at 1p.m. with a Celebration of Life to be immediately following at 3 p.m.. All services will be held at Kutis Funeral Home, Inc, South County Chapel at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Mehlville, MO 63129.

I’m sorry and shocked to hear about Ron. He was a great guy and we worked together at Coca-Cola for many years. He was always very enjoyable to work with and he will be missed by this old hippie.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Ron. Ron and I worked many years together at Coca-Cola. Ron will be remembered as a great guy and easy too work with. Always ready for a good laugh…..and we had many at Coke. His family is in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
