Was a caring and supportive mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She transitioned to a beautiful existence with God on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the age of 88.

  She was born to Theron and Ethyl (nee Beight) McKisson on November 24, 1932 in Tahlequah, OK. After finishing high school in Jonesboro, AR, Ruth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in music from Hendrix College in Conway, AR. She married Buren C. Smith and together they had 4 children: Bueren (Paul), Perry, Alan and Carol.

  After raising her 4 children, Ruth started teaching again in the Archdiocese of St. Louis at both Kennedy High School in St. Louis and at St. Dominic H.S. in  O’Fallon, MO. Ruth was a fine trombone and piano player and enjoyed classical music and reading. She was very supportive of her 10 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren.

Services: A Memorial service is to be scheduled for late November for family and friends to celebrate Ruth’s birthday and favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.
