Maurer, John A. Jr. “Mick” fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Sunday, April 22, 2018. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Morgan) for over 65 years; son of the late John A. Sr. and Marie (nee Schilly)  Maurer; loving brother of  the late Louise Gries, Marie Kohne and Joe Maurer; loving father of Michael “Mick” Maurer, John A. III (Pam) Maurer, Laura (Jim) Didion, Teri (Robbie) Wilson, Lynn (Roger) Schallom, Janet (Nino) Mascalco; loving and proud grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of 9 (soon to be 12): John A. IV Maurer and Kasey Barton (Dezi and Zora), Dr. Erin and Jimmy Quattromani (Eleanor and Jane), Michael and Christin Maurer (Presley and Collins), Julie and Brandt Stiles (Clayton and Josephine), Mark and Rachel Didion (Sloane), Lisa and Mike Johnston, Stevie Wilson, Kacey and Ben Sumada, Danie and Captain Mike Herbst, Megan Schallom, 1st Lieutenant David and Alex Schallom, Maria Mascalco; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

John lived 85 wonderful years. He enjoyed driving and fixing cars and sharing fun time with his life-long friends and large extended family. He loved all things mechanical which started his career in the motor pool in the Army and then driving trucks and buses for a living. His hobby was fixing or making things in his workshop. Thank you to the caring staff at Vitas Hospice and Evelyn’s House.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., Monday, April 30, 9:30 a.m. to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment J.B. National  Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Francis of Assisi or Alzheimer’s Association. Visitation Sunday 3-7 p.m.
