Paul W. Matthews, 85, passed away at home on March 1, 2022 from a heart attack.  Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart leaves a beacon of light for all in his family and circle of friends.  Paul was born on July 3, 1936 in Morehead, Mississippi. Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernadine (Dina) and two daughters, Pamela (PJ) and Cynthia (Cindy); two grandchildren Nathan and Jessica, brother William (Bill), nephew Billy and nieces Darlene, Patty and Sandy. Paul was in the Army and honorably discharged after  his enlistment.  His funeral is Monday, March 7, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis (Arnold), MO.  There will be visitation beginning at 11:00 am -1:00 pm followed by a short prayer service and procession to Shepard Of The Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, MO.  There will be graveside ceremony as Paul is laid to rest next to his Mother Gladys Bunn with a Military Honors farewell. His cheerful attitude, bright smile and quick wit will be missed by all.  Paul was a professional licensed truck driver for many years.  He was adventurous and liked to travel and keeping on the move.  He was quite the handyman and would surprise you with his knowledge of automobiles, trucks, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and small engines.  He welcomed the task of repairing and maintenance for these items.

Paul was most at home when out in the forest cutting trees with his chain saw collecting their winter fuel for the wood burning furnace.  Hauling logs from the cutting fields with his John Deere tractor kept a smile on his face all day long before resting on the back porch at the end of the day with a cold glass of ice tea, a cigar and waiting for a well prepared dinner by Dina.

To celebrate and honor his legacy he will want all of us to live our lives to the fullest.  God has greeted him to prepare our place to be with him again in the future.
