Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Walter C. “Doc” Maag. Dear mother of Walter (Sharon) Maag, Elaine (Mike) Pipkin, Lois (Bill Stokes) Maag, Marlene (Bill) Maag Waldschmidt and the late Carolyn Curth. Dear grandmother of Harold (Melissa) Chamberlain, Cassie Maag, Jennifer (Bonnie Skrenta) Pipkin and Kelly (Lars) Johansen. Dear great grandmother of Bree, Meadow, Nathan, Finn, Nora, Sawyer and Saylor. Dear great great grandmother of Oliver. Our dear aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend.
Edna was born in 1923 and grew up in Affton, MO. She was a passionate homemaker who raised five children, alongside her husband Walter (Doc) Maag. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was one of the most important parts of her life and her family gave her much pride and joy. When Edna wasn’t filling her home with warmth and love, she traveled the world. She touched many lives along the way and absolutely treasured her family and friends.
Edna was a faithful woman who devoted her life to the church. She was a proud member of Eden United Church of Christ for 99 years and was involved in many church activities, including teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir for more than 70 years. She shared her gifts with her church community and dedicated her life to serving others. Throughout Edna’s life, she had an unwavering faith, kindness and compassion that was admired by all.
Those of us who were blessed to be touched by Edna understand that her presence left an imprint on our hearts that will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed.
SERVICES: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Road on Sunday, April 16, 6 – 8 p.m., then taken to Eden U.C.C (8920 Eden Ave. St. Louis, MO 63123) for visitation on Monday, April 17, 9:30 a.m. until funeral service time at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Lucas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Eden U.C.C. Memorial Fund appreciated.

Edna was a remarkable woman with a remarkable strong faith. Her kindness and sincere dedication to her church was a model for so many. My strongest memories is when I had the opportunity to teach the kindergarten Sunday School class with her. A true leader and compassionate person who will be missed.
Kind, caring, quick with a smile. These are my memories of Edna Maag, forged during my youth as a member of the Eden U. C. C. family. As a child growing up in the church during the 60’s and 70’s, I participated in a seemingly endless number of church picnics, youth fellowship activities, Sunday school classes, and other church sponsored events. The constant in all of it was a handful of young adults giving us clueless youths their time and their energy for the sole purpose of providing us a road map to help us navigate a path toward a meaningful life. Among those amazing young adults, Edna stood out. At least she did to me. Edna seemed to always be there with a kind word of encouragement, a quick smile for a corny joke, and a look in her eye that, I swear, twinkled. I knew she cared about me. I knew she cared about us. All of us. Edna will be sorely missed. May God bless and comfort the Maag family, and may all of us who knew Edna take a long pause to thank Him for bringing Edna into our lives.
My sympathies to the Maag family. Mrs Maag was always a welcoming person at Eden. I was fortunate to have her as one of my Sunday school teachers and later on to teach with her. She was a pillar of Eden UCC and will be missed by all those who knew her and whose lives she touched.
