Carolyn Edna Maag Curth, daughter of Edna Maag and the late Walter Maag; beloved sister of Walter (Sharon) Maag, Elaine (Mike) Pipkin; Lois Maag (Bill Stokes) and Marlene (Bill) Waldschmidt. Wonderful and loving aunt to Jennifer (Bonnie Skrenta) Pipkin, Kellan (Lars) Johansen, Harold (Melissa) Chamberlain and Cassandra Maag; our dear sister-in-law, great-aunt and cousin. Carolyn was a friend to many.
Carolyn grew up in Affton, Missouri graduating from Affton High School in 1965. She went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in English and a teaching certificate from Drury College and a master’s degree from the University of New Orleans. She was a member of Alpha Phi social sorority where she met many of her lifelong friends including her best friend, Paula Hough Harris. She taught in the St. Louis and Chicago areas, Columbia, South America and retired from teaching from Oakville High School in Oakville, MO. She loved working with high school students. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Eden UCC in Affton, MO, always involved in church activities. She loved traveling with her besties, recently taking a river cruise in Russia. She was a lover of all animals especially her pets and the wild ones (deer) that would visit in her backyard.

I taught Math at Oakville High School with Carolyn for many years and subbed for her after I retired. We had fun lunches together (sitting in our classrooms, eating at our desks, during the 25 minutes we had!). She was a caring and kind teacher. God Bless You, Carolyn.
Carolyn and I were on the faculty together at Oakville High School. She brought joy to all with her friendly smile and upbeat attitude. Rest in peace, Carolyn.
Condolences to Carolyn’s family. She was a dearly loved teacher and friend and will be sorely missed.

Carolyn left us too soon. She was a lovely lady, with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. Sending sincere condolences and prayers to Carolyn’s family during this difficult time. God Bless You all.
I am so sorry to hear this news. Carolyn was always an energetic and caring teacher. She was a great room mate when I taught from her classroom. She always offered good teaching advice and was so sweet and funny. You will be missed.
Condolences to Edna Maag and to all of Caroline’s sisters and brother and their families. Our two families were life long members of Eden UCC and family friends. May Carolyn Rest In Peace.
I will miss seeing Carolyn’s big smile every week. She had a friendly greeting for every one she ran into. Thinking of you – Edna, Walter, Elaine, Lois & Marlene.
My sincere condolences to Carolyn’s family and friends. I knew Carolyn from Oakville High School. She was always pleasant to deal with and so sweet. I am shocked and saddened to hear of her passing…a sweet soul gone way too soon.
I knew Carolyn from Oakville High School. My dealings with her were always pleasant and she had such a sweet and caring personality. I am saddened to hear of her passing. My sincere condolences to her family.
Carolyn snd I would always joke around at school. Her room was freezing and she just took it in stride. She told me to just wear more clothes. She was always helpful. Carolyn was an excellent and dedicated teacher that has left this world way too soon. My condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed.
Carolyn and I taught together at Oakville. With her positive and sincere personality she made the world a better place for her students and for everyone she came into contact with. When I think of Carolyn I can’t help but smile. She willl be missed.
Condolences to Edna and her entire family. As one of the newer members of Eden Church, Carolyn and Edna both made me feel very welcomed in the Eden Church family.
Carolyn always shared her smiling face with everyone at church. She will be missed! God’s care to all of her family.
My condolences to the family on your loss. Will lift all of you in my prayers.
Carolyn and I were classmates in the Affton high school class of 1965. In the early 1990’s we met again at Eden UCC. I was so impressed to learn of her immersion in life in Central America and that she was fluent in other languages. I had pretty much remained a St. Louis person who spoke only English in those same years. She has contributed many gifts in all her years of life, seeming to end too soon.
To her family, may God’s peace sustain you through this loss. Thanks to you for being the launching pad for a marvelous woman. I believe Carolyn’s spirit will continue to inspire her former students and colleagues as well. Thinking of her will continue to inspire God’s grace in me.
Death takes the body. God takes the soul. I can rest in the belief that a loving God will reunite us with our loved ones in heaven
I will miss your wonderful smile, infectious laugh and overflowing joy, Carolyn.
You are loved because you are you. See ya!
