Joseph E. Laaker, born on September 2, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri passed away on May 13, 2023, at the age of 85 after battling Alzheimer’s for several years.  He was a devoted husband to JoAnn Laaker for over 60 years, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was loved by all who knew him.

Joe worked for the family typesetting business and became president, leading the business to become the market leader in St. Louis. He was highly respected and made many lifelong friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Sarah, his son Jeff Laaker, grandson Luke Laaker and 3 brothers.

Joe is survived by his wife JoAnn, 2 sons Joe (Mary) and John (DeAnn), 6 grandchildren, Natalie (Lee), Ellen, Michael, Jacob (Jordan), Sarah and Sam and one great-grandson Henry.  Joe always put his family first.  “Grandpa” never missed a game, was always willing to pitch for a game of baseball in the backyard and loved fishing.

He will be remembered for his kind and giving spirit, his welcoming hugs and contagious smile.  He never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need.

A memorial Mass will be held at Assumption Catholic Church, 4725 Mattis Road, St. Louis MO, 63128 on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association that we pray someday will celebrate their first survivor.
