Kassebaum, Richard “Rusty” entered into rest on Saturday, January 23, 2020. Beloved husband of Fern Violet (nee Hemme) Married October 2, 1954; loving father of Richard (Stephanie nee Howell) Kassbaum; cherished grandpa of Tami Evans, David, and Richard “Marcus” (Katie), great-great grandpa of Brianna, Morgan, Richard “Brody”, Kolton, Mackenzie and great-great-grandpa of Kinsley; son of the late Richard and Hattie (nee Damback) Kassebaum; brother of Roy (the late Delores) and the late Milton (Clara), Pearl (late Ray) Sprock, Ruby (late Pete) Kriete and infant brothers Melvin and Melborn and a special twin as well. our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Rusty served his county in the U.S. Army and was discharged in December 1962. Richard was better known as Rusty, He retired from Jacuzzi Brothers after retiring after 37 plus years of service and Missouri Machinery as sales manager until June 6, 1992, He forced into retirement after a serious heart attack. He is gone, but never forgotten “Rest in Peace”
Private family services were held,
Rusty was much more than a brother, he was my best friend. We worked together for several years, our families camped, hunted, vacationed and celebrated the holidays together. Rusty was the “Go To Person” in our family who everyone went to for his personal advice and help which he never refused to share both his wisdom and his time.
I could write volumes on the wonderful Christian man Rusty was, but anyone who had been so greatly blessed to have know him already knows all about this man. His unconditional love for his God, his precious wife Vi, his son Rick and Rick’s wife Stephanie, his grand children, great grandchildren, loved ones and many friends. God greatly blessed Rusty with many opportunities to serve Him. I know our Lord spoke to Rusty and said, “Well done Rusty, my good and faithful servant, you have been faithful to Me in life, come and receive your just rewards, full Salvation and eternal life with Me and all the saints that have gone on before you.”
The greatest compliment we can give Rusty is to say, “He was a good man, he loved his God, he loved his wife and his family and he loved his country.” Rusty was just that type of Christian man and we will miss him.
Just as Jesus had promised the man with him on Calvary when He was asked to remember him when He came into His kingdom, Jesus said, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Rusty is now with Jesus in paradise and one day we will receive our greatest blessing, salvation and eternity with Jesus and with all our loved ones who have gone on before us.
Vi, I pray our God will hold you and your family especially close and may all that Rusty was and all he meant to you live on in your life’s and in your hearts.
I wish you countless moments of God’s peace and tender reflections of the lifetime of love you and Rusty shared.

I can remember as a young child visiting with my Uncle Rusty and aunt Vi at holidays and a hunting trip or two. A fond memory from a hunting trip we took as a family. Our family in one pickup, Uncle Rusty and Aunt Vi in another. Talking on the CB with each other as the miles passed. I remember on the way home when it was time to go our separate ways my brother and I crying when it was time to say goodbye on the CB. My Uncle Rusty was a gentle man. Always loving. Always fun to be around as a child. He is with God in paradise; an eternity of peace and love and joy. I know this fine man will be missed as much as he is loved which is immensely. I pray and my family prays for peace and understanding for Rusty’s family and friends. Take comfort in knowing as always he as well as all of us is in God’s arms.

Sorry to hear of Uncle Rustys passing. He was a great person. Didn’t get to see him often since we have been in NC. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with Aunt Vi and family.
