HUCH, Kaye Lorraine Bernadette (nee Newmann), fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
Beloved wife of the late James Robert “Bob” Huch. Dearest mother of Ellen Bradley (Joe), Brian Huch (Gracie), and Scott Huch. Loving Granny Kaye to Cora and James Bradley, and Baby Huch, expected later this year.
Kaye is reunited in heaven with her husband, Bob Huch, her parents Roy and Jacqueline Newmann, and father-in-law, James “Jim” Huch. Kaye leaves behind her beloved siblings Mary Vien (Gary), Michael Newmann (Candi), Craig Newmann, Jan Roseberry, and Jackie Gilbert. She will also be mourned by her mother-in-law Betty Huch, her sisters-in-law Cathy Brewer, (Frank), Jeanne Ryan (Shawn), and her brother-in-law, Rick Huch (Mark). Kaye will also be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, Kathryn Vien, Laura Rivera (Daniel), Paul Newmann (Kara), David Newmann, Peter Roseberry, Carolyn Hanson (Brock), Matthew Gilbert, Jennifer Gilbert, and Sophie Ryan, her great nephews Jacob, Theo, and Easton, as well as many extended family members and innumerable friends, coworkers, clients, neighbors, and community members.
Born and raised in Crestwood, MO, she attended St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Lindbergh H.S. (’76) and the University of Missouri-Columbia (’80). Earning a BS of Parks and Recreation, she worked mainly in the hospitality and tourism industry, including roles at Six Flags, The Sheraton Hotel, and Where Magazine. After putting her career on pause for many years to raise her children, she explored several positions before finding her passion as an award-winning Realtor with Red Key Realty Leaders. She gave her clients 110%, befriending many of them along the way.
Married in 1990, Kaye and Bob settled in Des Peres, MO where they raised three beautiful children and became very involved at St. Gerard Majella Parish and the Des Peres community. When Bob passed away suddenly at the age of 44, Kaye dedicated her life to her children and ensured that they thrived despite losing their father. She spoke often about how it was a privilege to be a mother, and in 2020 and 2022, she was ecstatic to become “Granny Kaye” to her adoring grandchildren Cora and James. She was also overjoyed to be welcoming her third grandchild to the family later this year. Granny Kaye loved playing on the floor, planning arts and crafts, dancing and singing, hosting sleepovers with no bedtimes, and truly embraced the role of a “fun granny.”
Kaye lived by her motto “bloom where you are planted.” Despite being unexpectedly thrown into single motherhood, she continued to serve her community, taking on many leadership roles at church, schools, scout troops, the Des Peres Parks and Recreation Commission, and more. She could be counted on to get the job done with a smile on her face, and had a servant’s heart in all she did. Kaye was the life of the party, and she loved planning and hosting events of all kinds. She cared about every detail, especially the games – “it’s not a real party unless there are games!” She never met a stranger, and her bright smile, humor, and generosity will be missed by so many.
Arrangements:
Visitation, Fri., April 21, 4 – 8 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton.
The Mass of Christian Burial, Sat. April 22 11 a.m. at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church, with praying of the rosary at 10:15 a.m at the church..
Burial immediately following at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Kirkwood.

Just crushing to have heard this news. Kaye was just so charming and gregarious from the day I met her.
Kaye was always so warm and inviting towards everyone, and I especially got a kick out of how she’d always refer to me as “Sir” in reference to my Facebook nickname. She was never not smiling when we crossed paths, and doing things with and for others seemed to truly fill her with joy. Her immense personality leaves a huge void, and I’m so sorry to see it go.
Ellen, Brian, and Scott – I’m praying for you guys every day, and I hope it serves as some small solace to know that your Kaye’s gifts as a mother extended to every one of us that knew her. May she rest in eternal peace ❤️.
Brian, our hearts go out to you, Gracie, and your families at this sad time. I pray for the moment a memory of your dear mom brings a smile to your heart and you are comforted.

We have many fond memories of Kaye – softball, QQQ, pickleball and baby shower games – to name a few. She lived a full life and will be greatly missed.

A light went out of my life the day I heard of Kay’s death. She was a friend and helped me to find the home of my dreams. Kay was always a phone call away to hear or answer questions or concerns I had about my home. Kay was almost a family member once removed. I will miss her and with a heavy heart remove her number from my phone numbers. Bless you Kay, and my prayers will be with your family.
Kaye and I worked together at Red Key Realty and soon became friends. She always had a big smile and was fun to be around. I am sorry to hear of her sudden passing and she will be missed by me and all of us at Red Key. I am praying for her family and send my Sympathy and Love.

“Granny Kaye loved playing on the floor” — a touching detail that reveals what a wonderful mother and now grandmother she has been. Ellen, Joe, Cora, and James, know of my prayers for you and for all your family and friends who mourn her.
Kaye was a customer and a friend for more than 30 years. I watched her kids grow into the lovely people they have become. She was a great mother.

We were blessed to have just meet your mother a year ago on the pilgrimage to the PassionPlay in Europe. From the moment we met she was warm, welcoming and so fun to be around. She will truly be missed. She was a wonderful lady to know. Too soon, too soon
I was saddened to hear of Kaye’s passing. She was such a wonderful person and so full of life! Every time I saw her she had a smile on her face. We worked together at Red Key Realty and she had such a great attitude and was such fun to be around. My condolences to her children and dear-to-her-heart grandchildren. She was such a fun person and I know she will be missed terribly. Keep her funny stories alive to remember her. I somehow think she will be smiling down on everyone she loved!
I first met Kaye at the Lodge several years ago, and just recently she helped me so much with a property I had to sell. Kaye was so warm, and funny, and thoughtful, and loving. I just can’t believe she is gone. My heart goes out to her children and grandchildren. You were the lights of her life. My prayers are with you.
My sincerest sympathy to the entire Newmann/Huch family. I am sorry I was unable to attend Kaye’s visitation (I was officiating the wedding of two former students) but I have made a donation to Annie’s Hope in her memory. Keeping you all in my prayers ❤️
