Margaret Jean Ray Fleck Harkey, age 82, passed away on April 2, 2022, in Franklin, TN. Jean was born in Elsberry, MO, to Pauline Ligon Ray and Henry Leo Ray. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Rick Fleck, and her second husband, Robert Harkey, and six siblings: Charles Ray, Dorothy Cox, Harold Ray, Brenda Hausgen, Bobby Ray, and Betty Ray. She is survived by daughters Laura McMahan (David McMahan) and Lisa Fleck (Dan Hardick); granddaughters Keely McMahan (Casey McMahan), Meg Hardick (M Mutrux/Ruby Branson), Emily Hardick, and Olivia Hardick; great-grandchildren Clara McMahan and Hazel Hardick Branson Mutrux; sisters Dolores Watkins and Sidney Traynor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In the course of her life, Jean lived in St. Louis; Tallahassee, FL; Ridgefield, CT; Dallas, TX; Sarasota, FL; Austin, TX; and Franklin, TN. One of Jean’s proudest accomplishments was starting an employment agency in Dallas. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and to family reunions, and hosting family holidays, which she made very special. She loved cooking, creating a cozy home, staying in touch with her extended family, and taking care of her dog, Austin. She loved her daughters and her granddaughters, whom she had the pleasure of watching grow into strong young women. Jean was a fiercely independent woman who believed in making her own destiny. More than anything, Jean will be remembered for her generosity.
