Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Thursday, January 4, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Hanneke; dear mother of Sherry (late Robert) Fox, Mark Hanneke and Debbie (Brian) McCarthy; dear grandmother of Robert Miller, Matt (Laura) Miller, Jason (Tricia) Miller, Megan (Steve) Armstrong, Michael (Sarah) Fox, Tim (Kari) McCarthy, John (Valerie) Fox, and Lisa (Matt) Hollstein; and great-grandma to 13.

Shirley grew up in St. Louis city with three sisters developing a strong faith which she maintained throughout her life.  She met the love of her life, Bob, on Memorial Day 1946 at the Young Adults Epiphany Club.  They were married on Memorial Day in 1948.   She was a stalwart member of the Greatest Generation, working during the War until the birth of her first child in 1950.

Shirley was a stay-at-home mom for the next 25 years.  She created a loving, faith-filled home in Affton. She was the rock of the family and a tower of strength.  Shirley was an avid bridge player and loved to travel.  She also loved all the holidays, was a great cook, especially pies, and had a great sense of humor.

God and family were most important to her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, always treating everyone with kindness and empathy.  Her optimistic attitude brought joy to all who knew her.
