Baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection Thursday, August 27, 2020.

Beloved husband for 70 years of Marie Hamill; loving father of Diane Hamill, Kathie Silberberg, Christine Stellner, Daniel Hamill III, and Carole Readey; cherished grandfather of David, Mark, Kurt, Stephanie, Patrick, Matthew, Nicole, Veena, Daniel IV, Catherine and Elizabeth; dearest great-grandfather of Ella and Everett; dear brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Daniel was a lifelong St. Louisian, attending St. Adalbert Catholic Grade School, De Andreis High School and St. Louis University. After high school, Daniel worked as a driver before joining the United States Army. He served his country proudly during the Korean War while stationed in Japan. After his years of service, Daniel’s independent, entrepreneurial spirit led him to found two successful local trucking services still in operation today.

Daniel loved to tinker with machines and to build – anything from a snow igloo with the kids to the construction of a screened-in porch and garage. Daniel relished chatting with anyone who crossed his path; he often injected humor and energy into a conversation. In his later years, Daniel enjoyed being greeted at the door by his dog Tyler who would sit with him and Marie in the evenings.
