Lawrence Bovard Grebel passed away on February 2, 2023.

Larry was born on January 7, 1951 to Clement and Jean Grebel. After Larry graduated from St. Louis University High in 1969, he obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from St. Louis University.

Larry loved being a lawyer: trying cases, helping clients, and socializing with other lawyers.  He served in leadership positions in several legal organizations. He regularly wrote and gave presentations about trial tactics.  As a young lawyer, he famously served as lead trial counsel in the Kansas City Hyatt Regency skywalk collapse litigation.  That case set him on course for a highly successful career in which he tried hundreds of cases, argued numerous appeals, and obtained many precedential decisions.

In addition to fishing and golf, Larry enjoyed spending time with friends, especially his U High friends, and talking about his children and grandchildren.  He was spontaneous, impulsive, reckless, and fun.  He was an unstoppable force.  He will be missed.

Larry is survived by his sons, David, Mark (Tricia), and Benjamin (Jessica); grandchildren Dominic, Charles, Alice, Josephine, and Nathaniel; and siblings William, Deborah, Sally, and Thomas.  He was predeceased by his parents and brother Richard.
