Funeral Wednesday, March 29, 9:00 a.m. from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd. to St. Simon the Apostle Church, 11011 Mueller Rd. for a 9:30 a.m. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Donations to Catholic Charities, appreciated.
Gert always greeted me a smile and left me with a, “Love You”. I will miss seeing her, but I know she is now in the joyful presence of our beloved Lord and her beloved husband.
I have many wonderful memories of Gert but one of my fondest is when I had to go get my tonsils out at age 5, and stay overnight in a hospital. My mom told me to go up to Gert’s house before we left, because she had something for me. As I knocked on Gert’s front door, she greeted me with a smile and a bag full of tootsie pops to eat after my surgery.
What a kind women she was and such a deer friend of my moms. ❤️❤️

Barb, Paul, and Eric – what a special Mom you had. Gert was always upbeat and cheerful. She always made you feel special. Before we moved to Florida she and I took a trip to Kimmswick and visited The Blue Owl. We had such a great time reminiscing about family times. I loved how even in her 90s she was still sharp. We had wonderful phone conversations and she always closed with “I love you.” I love you, too, Gert.
Gert Gorham, what a beautiful, graceful and grace filled woman. She was always a joy to be with and never had a bad word about anyone. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She was devoted to her family. All who were privileged to know her will miss her loving presence. Celebrate a life well lived with the Lord and all your loved ones who have gone before you, Gert. We love you!
I didn’t know your mom really but watched her struggle to get into church every Sunday with you Eric, her very loving and devoted son. I had no doubt of her religious devotion and readiness spiritually to meet our Lord. She had to be such a wonderful mother to have you drive to her house and bring her to church every Sunday. I noticed last week and this the two of you weren’t at church ( i don’t always go to 7 o’clock mass) and the then we prayed for her and funeral arrangements announced. Please know I am sorry for your loss of your mother.
Early on, when I first met Gertrude, it was discovered that she was called Trudy as a child and loved the name. So all our family called her Trudy. The name seemed to fit her so well. She was quick witted, quick to laugh and always enjoyed the many family get togethers. I know how proud she was of her sons, daughter and grandchildren. She lived her life to the fullest and we will miss her dearly.

Eric, I am really sorry to hear about your mom. She was truly a wonderful person. I looked forward to seeing you and her a 7:00AM mass. She was a hoot to talk to as well.

Eric, so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. While I didn’t know her, you have always impressed me as a good man, with excellent values. I am guessing your mother was a guiding force in your family. I am sure she will be missed. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Whenever we would see her pop out of her home, we would exchange a wave, or share a little conversation and a laugh. What a wonderful lady she was!

Barb, Paul, and Eric, so sorry for the loss of your mom. I have so many memories of her going all the way back–in my mind’s eye I can see her waving to me and my mom from the front door until we were out of sight. She had a great sense of humor and was a kind, loving person. Love you, Gert.

Very was one of our favorite person! She was always smiling! She help me with summer cleaning if St Simon’s school! Loved this sweet lady! Sorry we couldn’t make it to the services. We lived many miles away.
